Z4M BUMPER - LINER

Hi Guys,

I have a Z4 E86 Coupe 3.0SI and the last owner (many years ago) fitted the M bumper. I have to replace the wheel arch liner becuase it has worn through, and the M ones are more expensive, and i have no idea if he changed them or not. Will a 3.0SI front wheel arch liner line up with an M bumper. I checked on here and the people doing the mods don't seem to change the liners so it think it will be ok.

Cheers, Nick

I did the M Bumper swap on my 08 3.0si and used the stock liners.
No problems.

Bumpy

Stock liners are fine :) possibly even the same part.

I know these are not required for an M front bumper change so your good to replace with a normal one

The arch liner is the same, just the corner infill pieces and undertray are different.
You'll be fine with stock liners

my car came with a //M front bumper and i have since changed both front liners with "normal" arch liners and all is fine

a quick sub question tho.... my undertray stops short of the bottom of the bumper... im guessing i need to replace this with a Z4M undertray?? and i just read that the lower corners are different?

can somebody whos done the Z4M bumper swap please confirm what parts need to be swapped for the conversion?

i currently have:
Z4M front bumper
air ducts
air ducts brackets
standard liners
standard undertray  (which leaves a gap, assume i need Z4M undertray?)
standard lower corners  (no idea if these are standard or Z4M versions? how do u check??)

Thanks

I've done the conversion from standard bumper (pre and facelift)

You have all you need to do the conversion

You can either replace the entire undertray with an ///M version of simply cut a template of sheet plastic to bridge the gap.
The corner parts again can be replaced with ///M version or 5 minutes with a dremel to cut away a part that interferes with the fangs.

I didn't buy any of these parts as the cost didn't warrant the limited benefit of so doing and with a bit of DIY everything bolts together rock solid and works well

oh right i see, well in that case ill keep an eye out for a Z4M undertray and hopefully find 1 cheap enough and then just unscrew and replace which im happy to wait for and do myself. (works fine atm so no rush)
as for the corners, the bumper is already on and sits fine and is solid so i assume the dremeling has already been done, altho when replacing arch liners and when under the car replacing some poly bushes i did notice that the lower corners are BOTH cracked.... (maybe previous bumper hit a curb and broke the bumper and instigated the bumper swap, which would explain the cracked corners...maybe??)
Are the replacement corners very expensive off here/breakers do you know as stealers price is ridiculous, and would you recommend sourcing Z4M only replacement or just source standard corners and modify to suit and save money?

thanks again

If you have a standard undertray what's supporting it across the centre front? You probably have a 2"-3" gap about 2' wide. Without anything then from memory it'll flex once the air gets in at speed.

If I were buying new corners I'd get the correct ///M parts, but they were silly expensive when I looked. I think BMW highly load prices of parts that are susceptible to accident damage as insurance companies just have to pay the rate.

The corner parts were £80 each when I enquired last weekend..

For some reason they must be cheeper for the ///M corners,
my pre-facelift corners + 3 packs of 10 x new bolts for the corners and engine tray.
Inc 10% forum discount from Sopers £290

As CJ says if your driving around with standard undertray and a gap, sooner or later the airflow will rip that tray right off!!! I know of one or two others on here that this has happened to

Can't say I've ever seen an ///M one advertised.
I'd guess in the order of £50-£100 given rarity.
