Z4M brake calipers

Hi
I bought a full set of second hand brake calipers years back with the intention of having them refurbished and put on my Z4MR.
One of those jobs I never got around to and having just sold the Z4M, sadly never will now.
I was told at the time that they were off a crashed E86 Z4MC.
Does anyone know how I can tell 100% before listing them for sale whether they are definitely Z4M?
I don’t want to rip anyone off selling what I think are Z4M that turn out to be normal M3.
I think the rears are the same as the M3 anyway, but could do with confirming the fronts.

Many thanks
Mike

I believe its the rears that are different to an M3 rather than the fronts from memory but I may be wrong, you can check original part numbers on realoem.com.

Yes happy to sell once I can be 100% sure what they are. Only collecting dust in the shed currently. I’m away for a few days but will look into it as soon as I’m back.

Only difference between M3 and Z4M is the front carriers are longer to Accomodate the larger CSL sized discs.

CSL callipers are Silver, Z4M Black.

As above. I actually bought CSL calipers and painted them Black, when I replaced mine. For some reason they were cheaper. :D

That’s not quite right. E46 M3 has a 42mm rear piston area. It’s only the CSL that has the matching 46mm rear piston.

Fronts have the same piston area (60mm) but different carriers.

Have u had a look into them. Willing to take pics of my spares to see if they match

I’m changing the colour of mine so if anyone had a set I could refurb so I can swap them straight over, I’d be interested in them.

I’ve a set but need to get some front carriers my calipers have been refurbed and just need the carriers to match then I’ll have a full spare set.

Hi Truth,

Can I ask. Did you paint them yourself? If so what did you use?

It's on my list of things to do but I have watched a few people do theirs on YouTube with mixed results.

No sent them off to BiggRed they recon and refurb loads of colours to choose from. And the coating lasts and looks great. Just need to get the carriers done now!

I'd say they are definitely Z4M/CSL calipers and carriers. As already pointed out the front caliper is identical to a standard M3 but the carrier is different (to allow the 345mm CSL disc). The rear caliper is also different to the regular M3 setup with a slightly larger piston area.
It's worth pointing out therefore that the front calipers are not worth much but the carriers for them go for generally minimum £150 upwards on the M3 forums. The rear calipers are also worth quite a bit, I'd say at least £100 or so.
Here's the calipers off my z4m, markings on them look to be the same as yours and different to boggo m3 rears that I've googled.

Firstly, apologies for falling off the face of the earth.
About the time I first posted these calipers for sale, our first born came along and I just completely forgot about these in the back of the shed. Having a clear out last weekend reminded me of their existence!

Are they any interest to anyone. I don't think I ever really figured out if they were 100% Z4M however googling and looking at the markings on the calipers they would appear to be.
Does anyone know if I can take measurements of the carriers to prove whether they are from a Z4M?

They're still collecting dust so happy to take a bid to clear them out if of use to anyone?

I'm based in the GU26 area if any one wants to look before buying.

Thanks
Mike

Just a year too late sadly Mike. I had new front calipers fitted last June, and I'm not far away in GU20. :(

Hopefully someone will want them.
