Hi
I have been a member on here for a while but have never posted before, now I have a problem....

My battery is in need of replacement. Local BMW dealer want £220!
I have read other topics but I am still unclear as to what type I need. Can anyone help?

Thanks

John.

the battery is in the boot...

you have 2 small bolts to undo, then remove the actual terminals...

take the old battery out... put the new one in...

tighten everything up...

a battery for the Z4M costs £70 - Bosch heavy duty, 5 year guarantee...

it's as easy and quick as that.... IMO...

I changed my battery a few weeks ago in my Zed, and my Jeep... it's very easy.... the only thing could be... and this is maybe a reason why it's so expensive.... your M version could be something like my Audi... when you change the battery in that, you need to hook it up to the computer and put it on "life support" and code the new battery in.... I doubt BMW are so stupid mind you... but maybe something to check....

No coding needed for the new battery on the e85/e86 platform...M or non-M. The OE battery is an AGM on the ///M, but a regular lead-acid would work as well. If your car sits around quite often, then the AGM would be a better bet.

Yea AGM all the way...

Mine had a new Bosch S5 fitted when i bought it and it wasnt upto the job..

Well I've been using a Bosch S5 for the last two years without issue. Never given me a problem and its a weekend car :)

I fitted a Bosch S6 AGM type battery a few weeks ago. Too soon to comment on it really, but it is a straightforward job. Currently £150 from ECP: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/BMW_Z4M+Roadster_3.2_2007/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444778008&1&835e73f8aa30147a975ab18ca8873dd9a722ac98&000020

I just had to use my Bosch 5 year guarantee after 2 years. Took it back to Halfords who tested the battery and there was 1 cell dead, so it was only delivering 10V.

Speak to Jamie in spares dept at Sopers BMW (Lincoln). I had one of him a while back and it was much cheaper than that.
