Z4M alloys on a 2.0?

+49, I think Dav the wheel nut is confusing you because he thinks you are running standard 3.0 wheels and tyres.

If I read this correctly, you are currently running M wheels with 255/40 18 rear tyres. If you swapped them for 255/35 18 rears then you would gain more clearance. Whether that is enough or not with the lowered suspension is a matter of wait and see unfortunately, but it would certainly be an improvement in terms of clearance.

No no no.. :P

I have a 2003 SE 3.0
Came with 225/17's All round

Now fitted with Genuine Z4M And orginal Continental M3 tyres all round. So 225 front 255 rear. I had rubbing with them sligthly on standard suspension..but only going fast on lumpy A roads or Country lanes..Nothing round bends etc.I had 2x snaped rear springs so i opted to upgrade to Eibach all round.Since the cars came standard with sport suspension (3.0's) it only gonig to lower it 15mm And since and inch of the rear drivers spring was missing i figured it would probably sit about the same considering this. Now it's done it sits great. And clearance over bumps isn't any differnt. The car feel stiffer but more refined? Front just srpings? Strange i know but better quailty..Probs due to the rears being snapped ? or the Hunter alingment? Dunno.

Anyhows now running Z4M alloys. On the standard rubber they come with.on a 2003 3.0SE..With Eibach 15mm Lower springs all round. And get majour rubbing round bends hit at any speed. And any considerable lump or bump in the road..By myself its not "too Bad" But even with my Girlfriend at her heavyweigth 7-8 stone its terrible :(

Going back to the guys who did my full hunter alignment as both my front bushs are completly worn out and need replacing So wil ask if theres anything they can do.I'll probably wait until these tyres go bald then replace them with 35 profile. Will this compromise the handling?

Yeah but theres 255/18 fitted standard to 3.0's.. And they don't rubb? ? does mine being a 40 profile make them wider? Mine where rubbing before i got lowering springs..but now it's worse?

There's ppl on the forums i beilve with 18/255 and lowered and have no rubbing? Just wondering why mine are if profile means nothing..

The 255/18 which is fitted as standard to your 3.0 is, I am assuming on the original wheels for that car. If that is the case you are now fitting a wheel from an M which has a different offset. The offset in very simple terms alters the position that the wheel sits on the hub and in this case because an M wheel has a lower offset (30 I think, instead of 50 which is the original offset designed for your 3.0) the rear wheels are sitting further out towards the edge of the carand hence you are getting some rubbing.
A tyre with a 35 profile is lower and therefore may sit lower than the arch which would avoid rubbing.

I understand now!No my car had 17's before (altho 18/255 are fitted to most 3.0)this isn't really relevent tho.

Thanks alot guys,I really wanna keep the Z4M's I got from Sammyz as there mint and look ace :(

Sorry for the thread highjack :P

Hey PawnSacrifice - it's Tim not Tom but I've been called a lot worse! Remember that my MR is wearing CSLs rather than stock M wheels so this may have some impact on the overall fit as against an ordinary M. Either way your wheels look superb in the darker finish. I will definitely be giving Lepsons a call to sort mine out in the near future...

Sorry, Tim... well, was only a vowel out.

I think CSLs would have a similar offset, but I take your point - will be studying standard M alloys now, and yes, Lepsons are superb. Still amazed how good the finish is.
