Cj - I don't believe you have to stop for ANY unmarked car, until you get to a very public location, such as a petrol station, police station, or town center..

Agree. Would only feel comfortable stopping and getting out if in a busy place where there's alot of people. Some weirdos out there..

Highlights of the weekend:
Both the routes were fantastic and in particular the final hour or so of Sunday with the last few nut-case drivers... absolutely awesome stuff

John (Sammyz) somehow managing to get on to the subject of politically correct Trans-gender issues at work, completely oblivious to the fact that the lady sat next to him in the pub wasn't quite a lady yet

Playing silly-buggers with Ian (Sk93) on the dual carriageway bits trying to get the perfect passing-shot. Which I believe he may have done :)

Watching people's expressions as they talked to Craig3.0 and tried to work out what he was saying ;)

Watching Trev's expression as we ate course after course of delicious well cooked food from our BBQ, while Sarah (?) insisted on warming his slowly on theirs

Phil (cj10jeeper), Craig, John (Siftah), Ian (Sk93) and John (Sk93's man-friend) offering to give me some alone time as I "Caressed and Massaged" my Z on friday night...

and a personal high-point; we actually passed the point where we scattered my granddad's ashes:
4763659406_263b951f9b_b.jpg
A petrol-head all his life, he would have approved thoroughly :)

With a few exceptions (sorry!) I think I managed a brief chat with most people. Once again, big thanks to Craig (hope you got home safe and weren't in too much trouble when you did ;)) and John for their hard work. Best weekend I've had for a long time, definitely up for making it an annual thing! (actually up for making it a weekly thing!)

Good post Nick
though,i do appoligise if my broad/quickly spoken west coast of bonnie scotland accent, was hard for u guys n gals to understand. at least my posts are type only and not spoken then, haha :)

Hi All

Just wanted to join in and extend a big thanks to Sammyz and Craig - was fantastic.

I have learnt for next time - do not bring a Sarah who will take over and ruin your chances of a nice bbq and in the process poison you with a ragwort covered burger! Secondly don't listen to her directions.

I am def up for any future meets.

Hi Trevor,
what happened to u after we got to the carpark on sunday/u seemed to dissapear?

Sarah was fun/laughing at her(finally)giving in to the superiority of our bbq,and (siftah)John's and my cooking. :poke: :D
Glad u both had a good time tho

A German van and two 4x4s really made it difficult to pass and didn't want to pull over despite holding up 18 cars!

Yeah that blue van with the German plates was a pain... I was stuck behind him for ages then when I did go to overtake he pulled out slightly making it really hard to get past. I am shaking my metaphorical fist as we speak!

So did u just go home after that,or what? i thought u had a copy of the route with Johns number on it?
Glad u enjoyed it though

Can you edit out a few grey hairs from that clip - might need to resort to some tyre black for the next meet! an did you catch the bit where me and Bradders overtook a string of 3 ?

Hmm I'll have a look through the footage... again my camera man wasn't the best. He was sipping JD and coke all day which didn't help  Next time I come to a meet I'm goina make a PrawnSacrafice style mount with a bulldog clip I think

We waited and said bye to a few but the rain was so bad we decided to call it a day. Yeah was good to see everyone and meet a few new people too!

Hi All,
got home ok,cheers
,and thanks for asking john/nick,the wife was very happy to see me :D

Despite having a day off today, have been v v busy/hence the lateness of the posts.
havnt even looked thru my pics as yet.

Glad everyone seems to have had a great time, thanks for everyone who came along
(for those of who didn't or couldnt/u missed out on a great w/end.)

A BIG THANKYOU to John, for organising the routes, and taking the lead/setting a good pace(when safe to do so).
couldnt have done this without u(too busy with the general organisng).
Thanks again,mate. much appreciated

Was good to meet u all,and put face to names, etc(sorry if i wasnt "scottish enough"looking for u lucy/next time i will wear my full kilt outfit, lol)

Highlights for myself would be(like alot of others),
1.The Weekend as a whole/the company i was in/the banter, etc and great drives shared with like minded ppl,who all just happen to own shiny z4's
2.Myself and John(siftah),Phil,Ian,etc giving Nick alone time,to massage/caress his car, before tucking it in for the nt,lol :poke:
3,The Saturday as a whole/espcly the Buttermer/hornister pass,and the great scenery,etc
4.Not tiring of seeing ppl's faces/reactions to z4 after z4 going past them in the towns(mainly on the sat). a truly great sight it was too :D
%. Seeing Phils car in the flesh, and all the great 101mods u have done to it. the leds and halo lts/angel eyes, look good at nt/in the flesh,as does the boot/battery/exhaust work
6.Sarah,finally/eventually admitting defeat, and using our bbq :poke: ,but not before Trevor had nearly passed out with starvtion :D
7.The Sunday drive thru buttertubs in the mist/rain,and stepping the back end out a bit, over cattlegrids
and the entire sunday aftn/espcly the last hour,hi speed blast with 6 other equally enthusiastic drivers(John(sammyz)/Ian/John(siftah)/Nick/Matty/Matt(aebous) :driving:
8.The bbq's and our w/edge campsite. had good "neighbours" too (nick/phil). not like that "sterling grey" lot in ltl acres, haha :poke:
(thanks again nick for the airbed pump. much aprctd, mate. i knew there was something i forgot!)

Was a truly wonderfull weekend, and will definately be organising it again for same time next year(which seemed to suit plenty of people).
We will probably block book the campsites next yr though/will sort out in details when needed.

Glad no-one had any accidents, except for my v near miss
(in case u were too far behind/or havnt been told already),i managed to drive as good as anyone all weekend,as i normally manage to,except at the point just before we all passed the police/ambulance/car/motorbike,when i carried too much speed into a bend that was far tighter than i had thought, and my z wanted to plough straight ahead as soon as i braked,rt into a brick wall. cue an emergency(normally trackday only) manouvre, where i had to,delibirately, pull on the handbrake,to get the backend to come round, whilst braking/then accelerating,in v qk succsession. i only just managed to pull it off/tho i wouldnt want to try it again, haha. oh well/just shows,we can all make mistakes, haha.

anyway, got my wheels fixed today,as i had an altercation with a drain cover(damaging my alloy);which i think lucy did hit qt hard too?
This aside, would do it again next week too.
roll on next year(or next meet i can get to).
Cheers again folks
(off to bed now/knackered,but very happy, and not wanting to go back to work in 4hours!!)

So there was a guy/girl sitting next to me when I was discussing transgender issues in the pub?? Complete fluke, I never even noticed  She/he must have been the one driving the pink coupe :)

Glad you got home OK Craig. The weekend proved to me two things: the Z4 bunch are great fun and it's now a factor in keeping the car just so I can attend meets like this.
You organise well and put in the effort ( Craig you were almost like a school master at times chasing around your pupils :D )and the driving weekend is much better for it.

I'm off to France tomorrow but I'll start to look at dates for a North Wales run, maybe early September?

It was a bad one that corner and the negative camber wouldn't have helped. Following you doing the same speed coming up to it and only starting to brake when you did I thought sh!t we're going wide across this road or sideways in a second! I managed to scrub off enough speed though and get round not too bad, just a bit wide, and I think my tyres helped a lot they performed brilliantly.

It had a similar effect on me, the plan since before I got mine was to sell it next month (if I could when it came round to it) to then try a few different cars before getting another Z4 ready for next spring to stick with, but when you mentioned a Wales run in Sept it made me think maybe this one's got to stay!

Yeah,Matty,my tyres and new redstuff ceramic pads performed greatly all weekend too(my pads now being better "worn in"),But i was going just a tad too quick to be able to shed enough speed before it would have been too late(plus the fact that i was the length of my car closer to the wall when we both were braking, haha),so emergency manouvre it was/tho,as i said, wouldnt want to try it again, haha.
Take those bends a wee bit slower on the approach the next time

Yes,John,a wales run would be great/tho i was due to go in for a knee op at the end of the week, but now been put back(again),until the "last 2 weeks in august",which will put me out of action for aprox 4weeks.(just hope it doesnt spoil the start of the footy season for me,also
John, if u get dates worked out let me know, and i will do my best to attend
Enjoy France

Thanks again to everyone for making it a SUPERB weekend :driving: :D

Well, that sounds like a perfect reason to bring the Wales run forward to mid-August, if you ask me :D

great to meet u2-next tm bring ur z!

I did miss driving, but was very patient being driven, I'd say! Had such a laugh camping and chatting with good company. Think your plate is really good, Paddy.

thanks

I've just looked at my car since the meet, I can tell we pushed hard on Saturday as I have a lot of bits of rubber over the wheels and side skirt / the back bumper close to the wheels. My pads got a bit squeaky but are fine now. I'll be happy to be rear guard next time, as I had more fun catching the group up / purposely drop off a bit so I could have a good run through the twisty bits, think I'd punch in the route to my satnav so I could sweep up any lost members, but then I don't think we lost anyone did we?

A rather bleak view of Sunday :( still, didn't dampen the fun :D

Video uploading to YouTube... will post when published at full quality.

Yes!

It was hilarious, though also quite uncomfortable :)

Nick kept trying to nod and wink towards her to tip you off and I was desperately trying to think of a new topic of conversation :)

Surprised you didn't spot her... she was about 6'5", built like a boxer and quite clearly had a prominent adams apple :)

I don't think she noticed the conversation anyway, or at least, didn't appear to look our way :)

Sorry Paddy, hadn't realised it was you... was suffering from Sterling Grey blindness :poke:
(does actually look pretty damn good there)

Anyway, here's the YouTube clip...

Filming credits as before.

If anyone has any issues with footage of their car let me know and I'll get it sorted - have tried not to get anything too close when driving

Yet more thanks to John and Craig for a great weekend, me and Alfie really enjoyed it. It must feel like a thankless task at times being a convoy leader but your work is really appreciated chaps!

Despite the roads being as busy as I'd feared, I really enjoyed popping my Lake District cherry and will definitely return there in the future. Shame that more of the 'definites' (you know who you are!) decided on a no show without giving John and Craig the courtesy of letting them know but respect to eveyone else who turned up. No repect to the wusses who dropped out at Hawes in the pouring rain...

The BBQ was good fun on Saturday night, even though the cooking service costs for my 'posh' burgers and sausages apparently ran into my M Sport seats. :? No wonder I kept the hood up on Sunday! Everyone was great company and the time flew by to midnight when we were very politely chucked out by CJ, hehe. Special thanks to the lovely Josephine for ensuring the entire evening wasn't spent talking about window regulators and sticky steering columns - just bring your car next time!

Onwards to North Wales! :D :driving:

Great Video! I take it the grunts and groans near the end were the climax? :)

Thanks... what can I say, I found it an exciting day out :P Possibly more relieved that I hadn't thrown myself down the side of a pass.
