Z4coupe are they difficult to sell

Are the z4 coupe difficult to sell ?
I am looking to buy one this Monday but everyone is warning me that it eill be very hard to sell. The cars I'm looking at are highly spect with below 30k
I would appreciate it if members posted how many weeks it took to sell there's
 
no easier or harder than anything else IMO. it's entirely down to the market for used cars. everything is slow at the moment. just make sure you pick the right colours/spec etc.
 
the coupe is far less common than the roadster, i would therefore think more of a long term investment - putting aside the usual roadster/coupe banter does this make sense to others?

Mate, I`m sorry, but is this a genuine question, or are you winding us up here ? :stir:

The coupe is an absolute CLASS act, and is no harder/easier to sell than anything else out there (as o.g. said) !

Just go and have a proper look at one (stop worrying about the blue v silver thing as per your other thread), stand back, and then tell me they`re not a fantastic car to look at. Then go for a drive in it, and tell me they`re not a fantastic car to drive ??

Just get it bought, enjoy it whilst you have it, and THEN worry about whether it`s hard to get rid of when it`s time to get rid of it............

I know it sounds harsh mate, but you`re talking BMW here, not Vauxhall or similar (nowt wrong with Vauxhall, BTW, had a couple of belters from them), and you will ALWAYS find a buyer for a good example BMW !
 
It's a genuine question! It's just that every BMW dealer I've asked( 5 )have said they seem to hang around a little longer! The private cars I am calling have been up for sale and in some instances I am the first serious caller.
I like the car and it drives well, I thought it could be a little quicker, but may be the speed is deceptive as it's torquey.
I just thought advice from you guys would be the best, and so far it's really helped!
I will have the z4 in my garage tomorrow evening, so can't wait!

As I don't want to loose too much money what is a good deal/ what should I pay?
Both cars are identical except silver car has cruise cont+1 owner over blue car, both 26000 miles, 56 reg,

Which one suits you, the colour and options? That's the one to buy.
Zed's may take a bit longer to sell over run of the mill saloons as they're 2 seaters, more specialised hence a smaller market

IMO you should buy a car to enjoy, sod how easy/hard it might be to resell and whether the lack of a certain option will lose you £100 or whatever. What colour do you want and what options. Personally I like blue and silver, both very nice,as is red.

Regarding the looks, the Coupe is a gorgeous car. Classy with quality. Since owning a COupe over the last 3 years (an Si and now an M) I've heard countless comments about how nice they look. Definately a future classic IMO

If you want, get out there and buy :)

Physio - buying a Z4 coupe or roadster is not a decision to be based on things you say like 'I don't want to lose a lot of money' - you WILL. Future classic or not, the economy is putting people off buying luxury, large engined and similar cars. BMW have many to sell and it's a recently out of production car and they have a new one on the block to sell.

As above posters have mentioned I'm sure it will be a classic, but that's in 10 years time. Right now the buy decsion shoudl be if you want one or not, does it have looks and performance that excite, your choice of colour (not ours) and is it a car that will make you smile.
 
As all have said above. As long as there is no issue regrding dodgy history or poorly repired accident damge or excess wear and tear from an unsympathetic owner, you should have little problem on resale.

My last 3.0Si Coupe found a buyer in 48 hours on Pistonheads. The dealer offered to buy back my current Z4M Coupe at the price he sold it to me about 6 months later.

A 2006 car will have done most of its depreciating but it will still lose value like most other moderrn cars.

Over the recent years, the car I lost the smallest amount on was a Boxster. I didn't like the car though.

Exactly...all cars depreciate, it's a fact of life so you WILL lose money. But those who bought them for £35k-£45k many years ago were satisfied it was a great car at that price. At current prices, it's therefor an even better deal.
 
I suppose how much you want/get for it will depend on how much of a hurry you're in to sell.

Mine's been up for sale for what feels live forever - although I think it's actually 5 months). If I'd have wanted to sell it quickly, then a £17k tag would have probably seen it go very quickly, but I thought it was worth much more.

I've had people (i.e. timewasters) phoning up saying that they don't believe mine is worth what I'm asking for it as they've seen another for £2k or £3k less (but in Imola/Interlagos with bi-colour leather). My simple reply is to tell them to buy the other one then, to which their reply is "Well yes, but they're not in Ruby Black with Champagne, innit."

Despite the fact that I only paid £25k for my 9,800 mile model, 2 years ago when it was 2 years old (that's over 45% depreciation in 2 years - invoice price with options was £48k), I'm not planning on accepting some derisory offer. I've had plenty of 'offers' from £16-£17.5k, but I think those offers not only undervalue mine, but all the others out there, and this price will rise in the new year - if you can afford to wait.

I'm 'now' not in a hurry to sell, and even with 36k on the clock I think it's a bargain at £19k. I've not got any problem driving it in the winter, and it didn't have any problem in 4 inches of snow last winter either.

To this point I was looking at a very nice M6's recently. Cost around £90,000 new <5 years ago and now a snip under £24k. Of course if I swapped I'd still lose £10k over the next 3 years, but not in the same league as original owners :)
 
Yes very true! I went and viewed the blue one today, I have decided to go silver! I have noticed a lot of people just rely on the car to tell them when it needs a service however both cars have been 2 years without 1 and are due the inspection 1.
I think 14200 is a fair price, there are some dreamers out there asking 17k same as a main stealer!
 
True blue one didn't have original exhaust tips, and the owner pretended to be dumb, like he had never tried the heated seats, was suprised there was an extra owner! And that it was due the 2 yr service even though the car had 6000 untill it was due!

The cars only need a service when the mile countdown indicates it (Oil service, Insp I or II). All they need at 2 year intervals is a change of oil on very low mileage examples and brake fluid both of which are time based.

Nice one mate; that sounds a really good price, to be honest... 8)

Just something else to whet your appetite: I`ve had mine 3 months now, and in all that time, without a word of a lie, I have only seen one other on the road, yes, you read that right.....ONE !! FFS, I see more Astons and top-end Porsches around than that.........seriously !

So there you are; along with the fantastic looks, handling, interiors and build quality, you can add a touch of exclusivity to your list, because I can guarantee that wherever you live, you will not see many Coupes around at all.

Anyway, as I said, get it bought, and WELCOME TO THE MADHOUSE !!!! :evil: :driving:
 
I am now a z4 coupe owner! I got 38mpg average from Northampton to Dover! Avg speed 70mph. I love the car I just need to get two new rear tyres asap as the weather looks bad at the moment.
Does anyone know is the m coupe back exhaust section fits the 3.0 coupe as I like the quad system! Silver is definately the way forward! :P
 
On the exhaust its a no, well you can get it to fit (Phil has done it), but its not easy. Worth doing though, as quads is my next project :thumbsup:
