Z4C values

Hi

I've had my z4 for about 2 years and in that time, the value according to wbac has risen approx 1k despite adding 16k miles. Is this now a solidly appreciating car? I ask because I was considering selling and moving to an 8L S3.

The z4c is a beautiful looking thing. I wouldn't change.

As for value, if it's increased by £1k, it's neither here or there.
 
It's never going to make you a packet at this end of the market. Hardly a Alfa 8c But as they are pretty much done depreciating the only money to shell out on is running cost.

Simply ask your self which one you prefer and buy that one. :D
 
Let's not p@ss about - if you sell it good chance you will regret it

But life is too short to be wedded to the one car for too long - unless you can adored both!
 
8 litre S3 - yes please!

But then I tried google and it seems an 8l S3 isn't quite that!

To be fair OP if you want an S3 then buy one, but for me it would be a pretty poor alternative!

My first Z4C appreciated by a few hundred in 2 years, but I can't see an S3 doing the same for a long time - and I really wouldn't want to drive any nose-led understeery mess made by VAG, but it is your choice after all! :thumbsup:
 
Well it's not really comparing apples with apples, but the mk1 s3 holds a certain appeal for me, always liked the looks and never had 4WD. Plus put of all the modern S cars, it's supposed to be the best drive... Then there's the prices, they can't get much lower so now is probably the time to buy...
 
It's only a Haldex so just brings in rear wheels for traction rather than any notion of steer from the rear.
 
Can I ask why you're considering an s3 over the coupe. Just curious. Are they becoming collectible or desirable? Can't see why you would want to swap.
 
Mainly for practical reasons, i mountain bike and while I have rack fpr the coupe, it's a faff. I also have 10k tied up in it, i could get a very nice s3 for less than half that, remap it and have a practical a-b blaster which would probably be fair bit quicker. However I would miss the looks, sound, cabin, and rarity of the coupe.

Ok, makes sense. I've also been cycling quite a bit lately, and haven't sat down to think if it's at all possible in the ZC. I've got a bike rack, but haven't been brave enough to try it yet. I do have another car for the purpose if need be.
 
I use a saris bones, it's totally secure but has left marks on the bootlid where the metal hooks attach, it'll probably polish out though. If your frame is short enough, it should drop into the boot, my old one did but not the new one.
 
Same, saris bones, but I've only used it once on my daughter's Honda jazz. I don't thing I'll chance it on my Z.

I'm guessing you mean S3s, but I think (hope?) Z4Cs are headed the same way! I sold my first Z4C for a little more than I paid for it 2 years ago.

But I can see why an S3 may be more practical for what you want, although in your situation for a one car option I would probably look for an E9* 330i with the N52 engine - just love a naturally aspirated straight 6 with RWD!

Which might be why my daily ended up being a 325ti as I have to operate a taxi service for an elderly parent who cannot get in and out of my Z4C! To be honest if feels like 80% of a Z4C for 20% of the cost! And bikes wouldn't be a problem........

The WBAC valuation being more than you paid 2 yrs ago would only reflect in what you originally paid for it & not necessarily a rising market :?
I assume it wasn't a BMW AUC ? If it was I would suspect you would be on a loser :wink:
Have a quick scan through Autotrader , there's around 40 Z4 Coupes for sale right now from £8k to £12k which says it all .
Buy them & enjoy them :driving: depending on purchase price they may offer relatively depreciation free motoring but as for appreciating assets ? I don't think so
 
Sorry I probably wasn't clear, i got a quote from wbac when i bought the car, 2 years on with more miles the value according to them has risen, to me that means the market value has risen regardless of what i paid for it, no?

It would be hard to argue if that was the case but you asked are these cars " now solidly appreciating " & from what we see right now across the market id say not , 56 /57 70k - 80k well specced cars around £8k private is about the benchmark if you were buying
So anyhow :oops: woo us with your figures :wink:

I'd agree with that, when I bought mine, it wasn't as an investment but it was certainly a strong thing in its favour that I could make back what I paid for it if I have to bail. Maybe in 10 more years things might change if you're lucky enough to have a working one by then.
