Z4C M seats - no limits?

I noticed whilst adjusting the seats in my coupe that they're not limited in how far they can go back when being adjusted. I don't have any subs or upgraded speaker packages, so when I move the seats back they touch the plastic cubby holes / speakers (depending on the tilt of the seat) - even in the most upright position! I noticed the flaw when I heard a worrying creaking noise whilst adjusting the seats and though f**k this.. anyone else noticed this? The problem I have now is when changing from Memory seat 1 to Memory seat 2, the order in which the seat adjusts itself means it tries to push itself back into the plastic backboard before moving fwd again! :(

Strange mine doesn't do this. when I use memory it always moves things in the right order. :o

example, I've got a 'sitting down low' setting where the seat itself is low and the backrest is a little more reclined (use it when I'm cruising about and looking cool), and a normal upright / little higher setting that I use 95% of the time. When I move to the 'down low' setting the back starts to recline while the seat is still high up then the seat moves down causing some friction. the only solution is to scrap the memory setting altogether and just do it manually. I also noticed the Alcantara headlining looks like it's been scuffed from the top edge of the seat rubbing against it at some point (before I got hold of it) :(

yeah my M seats have no limit going backwards, it will hit the wall before stopping and make creaking noises... i have never used the memory seating though since only I drive it but both passenger and drivers do this.

my standard seats did the same, by which if i adjusted the seat position I would touch the back wall before the seat rail would max out

i have just put M seats in and they do the same

Mine are the same with no limits going backwards, just the horrible creaking noises if you go to far back. :(

Sad to know it's one of the few faults of the Z4c!, but in a way glad it's not just me!! I#ve found no workaround besides simply to be a little more careful and thoughtful (sticking my fingers in-between the seat and back wall) when adjusting them to avoid damage.

Or the head of the troublesome neighborhood urchin kid.

Mine does to this too... But i think there is a reason.......

If my seat is perfectly upright and i put it as far back as it goes it wont touch anything.

I guess they cant account for the tilt as you could have it as far forward as it goes and tilt it back and still touch the back.

good observation, hadn't tried that. who sits in a perfectly upright position though :scratchhead:

I'm sure there's a limit, it's just that the bulkhead gets in the way of reaching it.

IIRC, when using the memory, the back always moves first, then the base, regardless of which way its going. I assume it runs just one motor at a time to avoid high current draw.

If that bulkhead were just an inch farther back, it would have improved things greatly for me.

The seat rails are probably from another BMW, to save on costs they have been used in the Z4 hence the seats aren't able to use the full range
