Z4C Finally lowered

My springs turned up this week after being messed about with delivery times... 2 days quoted turned into 2 weeks.

Anyway i went for PI -30mm springs. I've used PI springs on previous cars and have had a very good experience with them. They are a progressively wound spring, unlike some others at a similar price.

As we all know new springs take a little while to settle in to their full drop. I measured before fitting, then once fitted I drove up the road and back with harsh accelleration and harsh braking to ensure my shocks settled back in and then re-measured. They have given me approximately a 24mm drop front and back. I will take another measurement in a week or so once I've used the car a few times, but only expect another couple mm at most.

All in all it was a nice simple process to fit these and took about 1hr 45min on my driveway in the sun. And believe it or not was actually a pleasure to work on such a simple process.

I'll try to get a pic parked in the same place as I did previously and post both together on here so you can see the difference.

Next step is to get the rest of the cash together for some staggered wheels.

Does anyone know what offset I should be looking for front and rear? I'm probably going to order some from the states as they are about half the price of the UK ones from what I'm seeing.

did you do the fronts and rears yourself mate?? If you did, I don't suppose you took a load of pics and could do a 'how to' could you?

Yep I carried out the work with a mate, although only one of us was working at a time due to lack of space. Didn't take any pics as I read a guide that was from this forum first which had pics. Happy to answer any questions though.

Here's the guide I read on how to do the fronts:

Only difference is I used a pair of spring compressors which I got from the local motor factors which cost £15 instead of using the workshop style compressor.

thanks mate  - I'll have a read later and see if its something I can tackle or not. I've done loads of brake/suspension work on vintage cars, but nothing on a new ones.

The Z4 is one of the easiest set up's you'll come across. One thing I will say is it's alot easier with 2 jacks, one to lift the car and one to raise and lower the hub when re-aligning the holes to get the bolts back in.

Pics will be posted as soon as I get a chance to take a new one in day light... most probably next weekend unless I manage to get a half day off work this week.
