Z4C boot slow to open?

Hi all

just wondering is it a common issue re the coupe boot/trunk that it opens up very slowly?

if not any idea what might be causing it? im guessing the lift thingys

The rams that lift the boot can get weaker. Mines OK but I have had to replace the rams on another car once.

ah ok, is this difficult? or expensive?

Does it vary depending upon whether you have the security / privacy cover deployed or not....

I find the boot opens slower when the privacy cover is in place and I wonder whether the retracting system is counteracting against the boot struts....What do you think?

If the gas struts are getting tired or faulty you will notice a marked diffrence when the car is in the cold or the inside has been heated by being in the sun ....ie; the colder it is the less lifting effort from the struts and vice versa
