Z4C Aero side skirt fitment issue

Fitting oem side aero skirts to a coupe find the arches don’t line up with the skirts properly. Please see attached photos.

Very frustrating.

What’s the story ?

Damn, I wish you hadn't posted that!

I just went out and looked at my Aeros and they are both the same. :o

But then I looked at a photo of it with the original sills and they don't line up 100% either!

And this photo of my previous Coupe with OE sills seems to have a similar problem.

I cant answer your question but...

....where did you get OEM aero skirts!!!???

They get advertised on here from time to time:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137934

But as they are like rocking horse droppings you have to REALLY want them! Luckily the pair I bought in 2020 were the right colour.

Forum member, chap was selling his z4 and sold the skirts separately. Seen the car for sale with the skirts and I proposed he sell the skirts separately lucky he still had the original. That an I had spare kidney.

Ha sorry about that, Well as long as I’m not the only one.

Nice wheels and colour by the way. But I would say that.

Shouldn't be like that though, mine definitely fit correctly?
They were bought from bmw 2017.
I'm not near the car to get a square on photo but you can kind of see here

I’m wondering if things changed slightly with the face lift.

Can I ask what year this is?

It's an 07. The fact that Mr tidy (who must have an 06 or newer) says he has similar would suggest to me that there have been a/some batch/es made out of tolerance. Annoying, but I can't think of any other reason, certainly there's not going to have been any change in the metal work for the face-lift?

Maybe the ones with the slightly off fit aren’t oem products? I know a third party also made these :?

As far as I know the only non oem ones ever manufactured were in the last year or so weren't they? Skyer or something? There was never a market before 2017 as they were only £350 from bmw or less.
Mr Tidy says he bought his in 2020 second hand so must be older. Can you put a photo up of your fitment mr tidy?

I bought mine from Darren Slone.

But don't have a close-up photo - these are the best I have for now.

I have a 07MC, purchased my aero skirts from the dealer in 2012. The rear wheel well fits perfectly, the front is ~2mm shorter, which is exactly the same as the stock skirts so I never gave it a second thought. I'll grab a pic the next time I'm out with the car.
Yours are way shorter than mine so I can understand your concern. Can you loosen the screws and slide them forward any, all the clips are in slots so they may move a little?
Have your fenders ever been off the car?

There were fitment issues with the OE skirts too, back in the day, referenced to on this board, and on Zpost the US forum. You will have to do a deep dig, its back a while.
On the OP's query I'd suggest the wings may have been removed and refitted or certainly disturbed at some time. All the skirts are the same length whether the aero or non aero. Referring to the OE parts.
The skyer skirts are a good fitment too, ask me how we know. However over time previous owners may have sustained accident damage to wings front or rear, no two cars will ever be the same now, 14 plus years from manufacture. Its just question of jiggling around with things underneath, and it will involve quite a bit of patience, and time :)

think mine are slightly different but hardly noticeable. Mine are genuine OEM too. could be down to cars panels fitment gaps etc
