Z4C 3.0 Bypass Pipes Fitted - First Impressions

So I have just returned from a small garage in Basingstoke after having these fitted and my honest first impression was "....is that it?"

Now I'm not entirely sure whether I set my expectations too high or whether its just that its not the same on the 3.0 vs. the M. Sound clips and video's were a little more sparse when it came to the 3.0, in fact I couldn't find one when doing some research, so all I had to base any expectations on was the M. This isn't to say that there is no difference, just not as much as I might have thought. Certainly from within the car I can hardly notice any difference at all. Saying that, I have 1 piece of foam removed from the sound generator so some of the noise could be masked by that. At idle it sounds a little deeper and the guy that carried out the work said the same of it I just would have expected something a little more fruity when I put my foot down, no sign of any crackles or pops on overrun either I should add.

When I called for a quote I was told it would be about an hours work and £80 and it actually turned out to be in there just over 2 but I wasn't charged any more so that was very fair of them, they seem like a good bunch there so would have no problems recommending them. I know a few others in the south were contemplating this so i'm happy to arrange a mini-meet for any interested people to have a look.

I don't currently have any sound clips and all I have to record one with a phone so it wouldn't be the best quality, happy for anyone that does want to see it in the flesh to bring along something better to record it on and upload.

Really that's not great news for you. There can be a lot of noise made by removing the wadding in the silencer. Not sure if that's a good idea or not???

I am not surprised it took longer than an hour getting the exhaust off a Zed is a bit of a pain.

I wanted to avoid the 'anti-social loud' setting really and for it to sound a little more sporty more than anything else. I'll probably leave off changing it further for a while and see if the sound matures with a little more use.

Mines fine although I used 2x 22mm ID pipe , I also have a afe intake on so it's voicing from both ends ... I have no poping or banging ( no want ) but a nice gowl when cuttin her on .

I would be interested to hear yours if possible, just to see how it compares and whether we have the same results (from a seemingly similar mod). Any chance you could upload a video sometime soon?

Interesting. What diameter pipes?

I spoke with Warren Engineering as per the original thread on here andthey knew what I meant straight away when I said about bypass pipes for the Z4. The only specification I got to make was 360mm vs 410mm (which I believe is the standard vs M spec) so I presume as per other posts they are 3/4 inch. I didn't actually measure them myself but would say by looking at them they were 'about' that. If I were to go it again I'd certainly go for 1 inch diameter ones.

Would be good to meet up and hear them sometime. I'm now torn between this and the back box delete option instead!
