Seems a lot of trouble for BMW to go to if they're not... more likely to be a limited production run, a bit like the Zagato Astons...Taz x said:so are they or are they not going into production????????????????
original guvnor said:It's a re-mapped s-Drive 35iS with a £90k price tag if Autocar are to be believed. I don't think they'll be inundated with offers at that price.
original guvnor said:BMW should stop pissing about and develop a proper halo model for the E89. Not re-badging the 35iS as an M35i (or whatever it is going to be called) but a proper M-power car.
mrlozzer said:I can understand taking a £150k Aston, creating a special edition ultra-limited edition Zagato and charging £300k. There will be always be a market for exclusivity at that price point. But, as you say, I too can't see there being a market for a £90k Z4... although they said that about the £120k M3 GTS and they sold out in a few days.
Stupid money for what is only a slightly improved M3. But it just goes to show that there is a market for almost everything. Can't see me queuing up with £90k for a Zagato though!original guvnor said:Not sure about the M3 GTS. There are two on the Approved Used BMW site. One at Astle in Scunthorpe (320 miles) has been for sale for ages and the price has been dropped recently to just under £100k and another for £110k in Northampton (1500 miles though on that one so probably not 'pre-registered').

original guvnor said:Me neither! But a successor to the M1 supercar....(and an R8 rival)? Now that would be worth saving for! Can you imagine that? people sometimes forget that BMW M GmbH provided the McClaren F1 road car V12 engine![]()
original guvnor said:The M3 GTS must have been priced at exactly what it needed to be for BMW to break-even on the engineers time, tooling etc that was invested to create it. There can't be any other explanation for the gulf in price between it and a regular M3.
cj_eds said:The cost/break-even point will all depend how brutal they've been on chucking away the old car and redesigning it. If those Zagato's are basically the same as an E89 35is that's been reshelled, maybe with slight tweaks like an engine remap or some different suspension setup then at £90k they'll be coining it in. They would definitely be cashing in on the people who are willing to pay extra for limited edition.
