Z4 / Z4M custom Angel Eyes

Ok guys here it is. I wish I could tell you I was talented enough to pull this project off on my own but im not. The company that did the work is http://www.tekarbon.com. The guy who does the work is the owner Eric Sin. This was the first Z4M that he had done but he had done a Z4 so the biggest difference was the wiring and the amber material inside. I really wanted to do this project because I love angel eyes and I also wanted to get rid of the amber color inside the lens. Customer service from Eric was A+ all the way thru including wiring where we had some bumps but now that he knows it will make it easy for anyone else who does it. The headlight are baked at a very specific temp for a very specific time and taken apart. Once the work is done they are re-sealed and tested for leaks and the halos are tested for performance. This is something I had no interest in trying myself.

Here how it works. You must remove your headlights and ship them to him. He needs about 2-3 days to do the work and they will be shipped back. Allow yourself one week without your car just to be safe but it could be less. When they return you will need to wire them up. Instructions are included and this part does not take long and is not hard at all. The Halos are mounted to the headlight housing and will turn on when the car is started.

Here are the options customers have along with pricing. Custom colors for headlights can be done. If you want the housing to match your car color just provide the color code. The amber color tubes can be painted silver to be hidden during the day then light up orange when activated. this is the option I had done and I love it. Pricing includes all parts and labor customer pays shipping.

Installation of 7000K CCFL Ring halos $449.00 " $249 labor $ 199 parts "

Custom headlight colors $50

Amber delete $30

I do have an option from Eric of doing a small Group Buy for those interested. PM me your name and if I can get 5 or more people to do a buy the pricing would be $395 for the halos instead of $449.00.

They look really good Rom3n - very impressive.

It surprises me he managed to 'bake' them open, but credit to him. As you probably know I've converted a couple of sets myself (primarily to remove the full amber turn signals and AE) and given the type of adhesive did not think that would work (in the same way it does not work on post 10/04 X5 conversions) All credit to the guy for working it out and doing the job for you.

Just makes me happy I managed to do mine for a few $$'s not $1,000 :)

I wish someone can do exactly that in the UK... anyone know about Z4 Angel Eye mods in the UK?

I know about them: Project write up here if you fancy a go...

Ended up looking like this: Amber deleted, indicator lenses changed, and twin AE's

You're right I did use some scrap lights for components. I believed that they could not be 'baked' having been into this ages back on the X5 where post 10/03 they changed adhesive ans so many people melted them trying. The z4 is similar adhesive. All credit to your man if he can open them and again great conversion.

anyone qualified to do this for me in the uk?
similarly wanted to put LED in the back for license plate lights.. even ordered the LED for it... just dont know how to get into the actual "housing" of the bulb so cant change the lights.... NEED ADVICE...

I love them, they are on at all times. Turn around time is about 5-6 days from the time you ship them. Here is a pic of a guys headlight who is having his done in black and is doing LED's in place of the amber turn signals..

Here is a close up of mine at night.

PIAA also makes an LED exchange for the bulb for the AEs which seem to be just "light pipes". ümnitza also makes AE upgrades. If you Google bmw angel eyes you get a lot of hits.

Looks quite an untidy bond between the front and rear section in that picture.

I did email this company to see if they would supply just the clear inner indicator lenses, but unfortunately they said no. Looks like my project will have smoked lenses.

Romen, those look great! I would LOVE some of those amber deletes, where can I order those? And will they work on a 2003? I've heard people saying that you can't unseal the headlights on the Z4, but that obviously seems to be incorrect. I think I'm interested in the custom colors as well, still not 100% on those, but it'll really update the look of my 2.5

that looks great! Fascinating to see that updating the headlights by for instance removing the amber glow, provides such a fresh look on the Z4. Great mod.

ive done this baking before too. Years ago I tried it with a car so I could paint the inside of the light black instead of the chrome it came in. I put it in the oven at about 250, pulled it out and was able to pry the pieces apart. Then I put silicone in between before resealing them.

Tried this procedure with a friends saab on a corner he had laying around but it melted the plastic. Needless to say I'd be careful if trying to do this.

to avoid melting Z4 headlights in ovens worldwide, maybe the tekarbon guy wants to disclose at what temp/time he bakes the lights? :?
