 One of the greats

Sheer driving pleasure alone? My old S1 Elise just pips the Alpina, I'd have to say.

Anyone x-posts that to SELOC (Lotus Owner's forum) is a dead man. :D

I've had some nice ones, all of which I liked: 911SC, 928S, 944, RR Silver Shadow, 325i, Z4 2.5i, and now the Z4M. I seriously thought I'd say my Z4M, but I'd have to give the edge to my old 1983 944. It truly is one of the best cars Porsche ever made - great to drive, economical, practical, excellent engine note, and the revvy 4-cylinder means you have lots of fun before you're traveling at illegal speeds. If I didn't have the Z4M, I'd likely be driving a new 328i coupe and mint-condiion black 944S2.

Yeah the Z4...it's only real "performance" car I've ever driven. Although, I do think I push my little S-10 harder than I do the Z4. Of course it could just feel that way because the truck isn't designed to take half of what the Z4 can.

The Z4M gets my vote over my MINI Cooper S, mainly because of the raw HP. Handling capabilites are about the same, otherwise. :D

My new Z-4, Is probably my favortie.

But, I must confess to a fondness to my 1974 Datsun 260Z, 4 speed. It was a hot car in its day, and had some of the same qualities.

20ducks I came very close to buying a 1969 Volvo E1800 S coupe. I think it was an "S" and was wondering what did you like about yours and were they any dislikes?
E was fuel injected...nice. S was not....not nice.
What I didn't like about the E was that the interior got hot...real hot. It just felt like the transmission hump was like a furnace. Not a bad thing when it was -10 in Chicago but above 40 deg it was like a boiler room. The AC was okay but barely. What I loved was that it was plush, heavy and well appointed and it had electronic overdrive (quasi 5th gear) which was well ahead of its time. Mine was turquoise with black interior. I loved that car. Then I get rear-ended twice and it was never the same. That's when I got my Alfa-Romeo Spyder.

1981 Honda Prelude, 2001 Corvette Coupe, 2005 Honda S2000, (2) Infiniti FX35, 2007 BMW Z4 -- equal favorites.

1st. Vauxhall VX220
2nd. My Z4 Coupe
3rd. 1990 MINI Checkmate
4th. Mini Cooper S
5th. Rover P6 V8. (smile factor)

Worst.
Volvo V70
Nissan 200SX S13

The best:
1) The Z4 wins hands down, IMHO.
2) 1988 300ZX (Red) was the closest I've owned. I bought it and my wife latched on to it so I never got to drive it much.

I've owned a lot of really good reliable cars, but these are my favorites for sheer driving pleasure.
The worst:
1978 Ford Mustang II Cobra, what a POS.. One of the car magazines dubbed it a "Sheep in Wolf's Clothing". On top of that it had the worst construction quality I've ever seen.

Those are such cool cars My neighbor a couple of blocks over has one of each, both a flat polo green and the wagon is mint. Very cool

1st place is a tie between my current 07 3.0si and my old 97 Porsche Boxster, they both had there strong points. The Boxster was so nimble, I think it has allot to do with it being mid engine, weight distribution and all that.

A strong second was my old 2002 WRX subaru Very fun to drive as well but tons of turbo lag.
