35is, yellow, low mileage, comfort access, cruise control, heated seats, parking sensors, brake upgrade kit, Quaife LSD..... but no iDrive!

I saw another z4 with a nice color, what do you think about it?

I really don't understand the obsession with iDrive, it's nothing special. Certainly wouldn't put me off that one if I was in the market (although the yellow interior might!). Atacama looks good on the E89, a nice strong yellow.

Like all extras / options it’s what floats your boat / what you have experienced...

Several points from a personal perspective...

I detest with a vengeance loose wires and those suckered phone mounts

By now..if it ain’t got heated leather seats, cruise control, full air con, integrated graphical interface for Nav/Muzak/Advisories, decent auto box/great audio/full Bluetooth/Full PDC I ain’t interested and that’s just my lawnmower ..

I can cope with a lack of colour co-ordinated bin liners, Patagonian Goat surface finishes, 3,5,6,8 cylinders, one touch auto windows, zero touch roof folders, 24 cup holders, wazz, Spotify and any number of banal apps..

For some, I would argue most, if you ain’t got the toys then the re-sale is more difficult..

If that yellow 35i was fully loaded with toys it would have been long gone..I would have bought it..

Just my two pennies worth..

Discuss..

Agreed, completely down to the individual.

My 2 E89 owning chums, both have 23i models, neither have iDrive, neither bothered in the slightest.

Having lived with my iDrive equipped example since last November, I wouldn't buy another E89 (and I am semi actively looking ish kinda) without iDrive fitted - I use the internal hard drive for music, USB port and Nav very frequently and having the screen there is much more convenient for any number of messages/status/info/accurate PDC (as opposed to just BEEP BEEP BEEP) about the car.

I think the point being made about the earlier 35is was that it was originally a well specced, top of the line very expensive car - so it's a shame the original purchaser didn't spring for iDrive even though it was a pricey option.

Heated seats are the one option that I find surprising to find missing quite often, another I wouldn't be without given my roof is down year round. Why anyone didn't tick that box for a convertible in the UK - even purely from a resale value point of view - is beyond me.

I've experienced it but never been blown away, especially now its getting on for over 10 years old. In a brand new car I'd take it as the in car tech has greatly improved since 2009, also pretty much a standard fit these days.

If I could only have two spec options on the E89 (excluding trim level) it would be heated seats and PDC.

It’s very frustrating that normal consumer products outpace the car specific implementations, but it’s a trade off, the new G29 dash has gone too far IMHO were function has been overtaken by gizmo content..

Depends on your driving style and location, I can see cruising down a motorway or in urban commuter traffic how some of these apps/features may provide content / distractions..

If you’re tramping on the user interface and display needs to be stripped back..so a 10 year old interface still works for me..others may disagree..the joy of a personal view..

That's a great colour combination with nice miles.
Didn't realise these had got that cheap.

74k on this one, so closer.

The one with the body kit is back on Ebay too (5th or 6th time?), 50k miles. Not my cup of tea though.
