Hi Logibear, where about are you? Almost 2am here in UK where many helpful members are. So I will just welcome you to the forum. :)

I hope you don’t mean ‘car wash’ as that’s considered a cardinal sin to most here, as well as being potentially damaging to your car, which I suspect maybe the case here - your z’s brain has had a wash too!

In any case, first thing to consider is how old the battery is as the z’s electronics are very sensitive to undervoltage.
Second, check to see if you have incurred any water ingress into the DME housing, if you see any water inside there’s a good chance the electronics inside have shorted/fried.

Like Chris said, I think I'd be checking the battery age first, (should be a date stamp on or near the terminals')
Hope its just a coincidence that it came about after a car wash and its not something more serious (aka expensive)

I assume as it's a 2006 model you are talking about an E85/86, Not the E89
Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope it's quickly fixed
Don't forget the photo's

+1 for the battery first

Welcome to the forum.

As others have said I'd start by checking the health of the battery - hope you get it sorted anyway!
