Z4 with new M3 alloys

Hi, I'm looking a wee bit of advice on a new set of alloys I'm buying. I've seen the new M3 alloys (Replicas) on a Z4 and they look great. However, there are a few things I'm not sure about. The Z4 I seen them on is a different spec than my own and I'm not sure whether to go for a staggered set with wider rears. I don't want the wheels out over the rear wheel arch with the wider rears, but on the otherhand I don't want them to get lost inside the arches. Another thing is that the wider rears tyres increase the price significantly. I've attached a few pics of my car and a few of the one that I saw...

I'm assuming these wheels are 19"? Also, would like some advice on tyres. I don't want the alloy sticking way out from the tyre as I've seen on some allows, What size tyres should I be looking at? Any help and advice would be great...

Many thanks,
Martin

IMHO it looks as if someone has been playing with Photoshop as they look out of proportion to the rest of the car.

Do you think? Augh! I'm not sure what to go for... I bought the car with the 18" MV2's on it and they are badly kerbed. I checked them and they are only replicas and not really worth getting refurbished. I normally wouldn't be all bling and keep my cars as they are but I don't want to put another set of MV2's on. One minute I love the new M3 wheels, the next I'm not so sure. I saw the M3 alloys (18" maybe?) on this Coupe as well and liked them:

But then I saw these and thought they looked horrendous:

It might simply be the difference between 18" and 19" that is causing them to look out of proportion.

Do you think the Coupe has 18's? I'm not sure what to do about the size and the wider rear wheels. I'm not even sure I should even go for the M3 wheels. What size of wheels were standard for my car, 04 2.5i SE? Where there any models that came with 19's? Does anyone like these M3 wheels?

Genuine m3 alloys in 18" look nothing like that, they look like the 19" version but must be fronts as the rears are dished. Unless that is they are replicas

That's my car, as of a few months ago at least; courtesy of Mr & Mrs Peppermint who had them put on the car.

They are 18 x 8.5 front & rear.

Dishing is there, but not evident in the photos from the angle it was taken from. Comparing them side by side with my father in law's 20" M3 wheels, they are pretty damn comparable as far as I could see (apart from the size & as a result less dishing)

Agree that the 19"s look a little too large, but then I have a slightly biased opinion!

They are NOT M3 wheels in those sizes but only replicas. M3's have never been fitted with 20" wheels either unless aftermarket. The biggest an e46 or e90 come with is 19, stand fit is 18 with the bigger being upgrade. Both sets have wider rears than fronts which gives the back ones a more dished appearance.

CSL alloys are 19" as standard as are the e46 cs edition, still with wider rears.

My bad then as thought he said they were 20". He would only do original dealer fit so must be the 19"

Regardless of that, my point still stands about them looking comparable to originals; although compared to the optional 19" rather than the std 18" the new M3 comes with.

At no point did I state or try to claim they were original, no a little unsure on your tone with capitals - if you read, you will see the word 'comparable'.

Remember, it's a long drop from a high horse.

Hey mj2k, your Coupe looks fantastic. It was this picture of your car that I came across online that got me looking at these wheels in the first place... I'm really starting to lean towards the 18's, I originally thought your wheels were 19 with wider rears until I came across those other pictures.

Do you think the 18 x 8.5 front and rear is grand? or do you think they could do with 18 x 9.5 on the rear? The place that I'm buying them at are really pushing me to go for 19" with wider rears. Normally I'd take the advice from those who know their stuff but I think this guy is into boy racer stuff which is not my thing...

Does anyone have any pictures of a Z4 with 19" alloys. Any alloys really so that I can get a better idea of the sizes. I do think that the 19's in these pictures look too big but I'm not sure if they are lowered or if it's maybe just this style of alloy that looks too big... Cheers, Martin

Get these ..... 18" version of the CSL wheel and you can keep your tyres

Im not keen, i think they look 'too busy' - the double spokes are too close together. you cant go wrong with csl's (especially on a coupe). Or maybe try some BBS LM's like i had on my z4?.
