Hi,
I have a 53 plate z4 with 28k miles on the clock (not much use of windows?) does anyone know what the likely problem might be with the following, and do I have to order the ELECTRIC LIFTER, part no. 51 33 7 198 910 at (VAT included) £130? or can I get away with those cheap regulator things off ebay?????!!
When I try to wind the window up, there is still the sound of the motor working but the window sometimes doesn't go up but has be helped with my hands, and makes some straining noises as it rises. Even lifting the window as far as possible there is still now an inch or so gap at the top, so rain can now get in. I have read other posts where the window becomes totally free, but this has not happened, it is still fixed firmly to something, just not working well at all - its a bit 'ill'.
Any ideas of what has most likely happened and what parts I need?
And what is it with BMW service section? - I rang to see if they could spare 1 min to pop outside and listen to the door and quickly advise me of the problem, so I could order the parts from them, and they said they would have to book me in at a cost of £80 for the pleasure- Is that helpful / normal???!
