Z4 went in for dents removed, now has a damaged bumper!

Alright guys,

Just thought I'd have abit of a moan! Took my car to a local place to have some dents removed from the bonnet yesterday where a load of snow/ice fell off the house roof onto it. Anyway picked the car up yesterday had a look at the bonnet etc and all seemed well.

Fast forward to today - I went to change a headlight bulb and noticed now that between the kidney grills is a horizontal crease which looks like it has been filled and painted (not so well I might add), there also appears to be some spots of white residue on my number plate, filler perhaps? I'm sure that this wasn't there before yesterday, looks to me as if somebody at the garage has knocked the front something when moving it into the workshop (easily done if you misjudge the length of the bonnet I suppose), then tried to repair it.

They'll be closed now but I'm going to ring up tomorrow and ask a few questions, will just be my word against theirs though I presume so maybe not alot I can do!
 
Bad news

The paint should still feel soft to the touch if you tap it with your nails you'll tell - Or pull a grilleout and I'll bet you find evidence of overspray, cutting materials or even a fresh paint line. Certainly no dirt that you would expect. Just look carefully, don't touch and then you'll be prepared to discuss with them
 
Sounds like a familiar piece of damage :thumbsdown: You just reminded me I need to get mine fixed.

Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it Fraser. Check per CJ's advice for evidence and take it from there.
 
Do you have any pics before and after?

I had something similar happen to a Golf of mine years ago... when i took it to the VW dealer to have a damaged wing replaced (after some woman drove into the side of my car)

They damaged the front.... which i didnt notice till 2 days later. Took it back and they denied everything... but luckily a few pics i took of my damaged wing showed a damaged free front bumper.. which i pointed out to them.... they then said ok we'll fix it; but must have been part of the original accident (so charged the other parties car insurance for) :roll:

Good luck hopefully they will put it right.

That's exactly what mine looks like. The wrinkled effect made me think it was a poor repair but now I'm not so sure, obviously the plastic bumper deforming causes the paint to do this? I know the mark wasn't there on sunday when I washed the car, so it may be that a stone or something similar has flicked up and hit the car whilst I've been driving around, seems unlikely though.
 
Could be. I didn't notice mine for a week or two and first thought I'd been reversed into until remembering the M25 flying rubbish incident. MStyle have quoted me £300 to repair the dent and respray the entire front bumper (getting rid of any stone chips at the same time of course).

You'd have def noticed the sound of impact to d that type of damage so I wouldn't rule out the repair place. As CJ says, check for soft paint and overspray.
 
I would go in and say the grill you repaird yesterday is not just right can you have another look at it.
See what they say if its we will have another look you have them.
Hope you sort it out.
