So spoke to my insurers - the guy has denied liability... He doesn't know I've got him on video... Either way I felt like exploding !!

I reckon if we all turned up with 50 zeds at his house he may pay you in cash :fuelfire:

I would be up for turning up outside the scumbags house. And I live in France

Maybe we should arrange a forum meet outside this guy's house?

He would probably get the message when he sees all the Z4s

Haha you guys are all awesome!

Will wait and see what his insurers say once they look at the vid!

Include image from damage to his car as well. His insurance would at least know that the car is damaged and any damage you have to declare at renewal time, wether claimed for or not, as per the policy requirements. His premium would go up either way unless he lies and says it was on there when he bought it.

One of the problems is that there will be no comeback on him because he denies responsibility and is subsequently proved to have been responsible. Perhaps if there was some punitive measures these people would think twice about denial when they are actually responsible.

Let's hope he get what's coming to him and you get your car fixed.

Finally some good news.

His insurers have accepted to foot the repair costs after seeing the dash cam footage and photographs, on a non-prejudice basis (ie. if he supplied any evidence that it wasn't his car that hit me)

Car's booked into the bodyshop next week! :D

Got a letter from the police however telling me that they won't be following it up as no injuries were caused... They just don't have the time to deal with this....

It's finally all payed off - and thanks for all the advice over here! :driving:

Good news, not so good about getting away with the hit and run though. Where is the deterrent in this?

He is no worse off if he left a note on your screen to trying to get away with it. Crime pays ... :(

Crime pays ... :( all too true..

had someone hit my wives car at a kids football game, we were walking back to the car at the time and saw him do it.. he denied he had done it when i confronted him, i was fuming.. got in touch with police and reported it, they were not interested either even though we had seen him hit the car!

Useless IMHO

I think there is enough evidence for a failing to stop after an accident prosecution.
That is regarded as being as serious (if not more so) than no insurance.
The police can check instantly if the CRV is insured
I suggest following the police up and being a pain asking them whether they have interviewed the owner/driver yet or sent a letter to the registered owner requesting details as to who driving when the accident happened.
If they have not, ask for the name and mobile number of the local beat bobby (community POLICEman not Community Support Officer).
Then call the beat bobby and tell him the story. Emphasise the community element and that activity on their part helps prevent crime and would lead to a positive impression on your part and that of community.
Good Luck

Yet somehow they do have time to sit around in vans catching people speeding at the bottom of really steep banks and just after speed limits drop from 60 to 30 in places where no one has ever been injured. It would be much more in the public interest to prosecute dicks like this who would likely hit a pedestrian and leg it than to fart around with sneaky speed camera set ups.

This is bloody annoying, I have seen Police camera vans sat on the bridges over the M40 motorway, near Oxford. WTF is that about, sit in built up areas and catch the toe rags who speed through towns and villages :headbang:

Worst example of speed trap wanks is one night when it was absolutely peeing down the twats were sitting next to a huge puddle that was dangerous (really poorly lit road and the sort of puddle that stretched over 3/4 of the road). Rather than having their lights on to warn drivers of the danger they were set up with their cameras hoping to catch a few speeders !

Tossers !

Good news the insurance is sorted ! Bad news re the police.

I despair ... and as a traffic officer (albeit a Detective) find it so frustrating. The police simply don't have the money to police traffic matters. No one in politics - who effectively pull the strings - see traffic matters as a priority. Someone who fails to stop after causing damage is one step away from failing to stop after running someone over. What kind of deterrent is this ! I have to pick up the pieces when someone gets run over and the driver doesn't stop ... this sort of thing hardly helps, yet the powers that be (and I mean the Government effectively) don't give a stuff.

But would it not be a quick target achieving matter though? Everything has been handed on a plate so you can solve a "crime" in minutes by just sending the fine as it is an absolute offence.

Do you have a police commisioner in your area ?
Write to him directly and ask him why a crime is being ignored! If you write to him I think he is duty bound to give you a reply.
