Z4 vs Z4 in this months BMW Car Magazine

Bought the mag today, can I have the £4.50 back please.

one of the dullest mags I ever had the mispleasure to read.

Nothing in the Z article has'nt been said before, even by posters on this forum after the initial test drives. All it tells you is the new one is a bit bigger, a little softer and a bit more grown up, about the only interesting thing was the photographer found it easier to get his stuff into the E85 even though the boot on the E89 is a little bit bigger.

Don't bother it on the strength of this article.

Anyone wants the mag PM me, otherwise its out for recycling tomorrow.

'New Z4 is softer more grown up and more a cruiser than the old one' shock news story  Don't think I'll bother somehow

Not having ever driven an early Z4 I can only compare my new s35i to my M3 and my 3.0 litre Z3. I would agree that the new one is softer and more refined, for rawness I go to the Z3, a very basic car (skateboard with a 225hp engine bolted on the front, a panic to drive, tons of fun) The new one is "almost" as quick as my M3, softer handling and yes, definitely more of a cruiser. None of the others had a 7speed DCT with 300hp in front of it and with remapping available for the engine (385hp) I think it will be a slightly less refined and a little more raw than some people think. I wouldn't want to race it without the M suspension but it wll be fun...to cruise in.

Just turned 55 so now you have the "Old Fogey" opinion... :D :D

mcbeee, you would never guess you are 55 from reading your posts! :P :D

I think having no kids and never growing up may be a big part of it. My second wife (of 27 yrs) said "Life is short, drive a Jag."
You are as old as you act, it just hurts longer when you bash your shin .. :D :D :D

Just went up the road on my lunch break to WHSmith..

Wow! Really "in Depth" review...

I didn't learn anything what so ever from reading it...

Besides the last statment was rather hurtful for Z owner's :(

You're close, I have one ex wife, one that lost a battle with cancer, one ex GF that was costly to get rid of and I got smarter with #4, same age as me with her own assets and no kids. She's the one who bitched at me for selling my Z3 and getting the M3, and kept looking at the Z4 and telling me how cute it was......she has good taste.

Out of your post, sorry for your loss! :(

Thanks, Linda (#2) was 27 years of battling, bliss and loads of fun, she was the first person to say "Yeah, you should get one of those if you want one"...(my first Z3)

I also bought the magazine this morning. If you are only interested in article about the old/new Zed comparison (especially driving experience/handling/performance), then you can save £4.50. They compared a pre-facelift E85 3.0i with new E89 sDrive30i. A facelift 3.0si should have been used for comparison in my opinion. Then they just compared the lengths, widths, weights, etc. (boring). Very little about driving experience.

However, this issue includes a wrapped E92 M3. It explains how the M3 was wrapped in very detail (4 pages).
