z4 vs 350z

there was a lot of plastic in the doors, looked like it came out of a Micra, better interior in the 370Z but that seems to have lost some of the 350Zs sparkle.

Good value old school muscle car, don'tthink anyone's dissing it just being honest. :)

I've just bought a Z4 Coupe - decision based mainly on the look of the thing (which sums up the article).

Just about to sell a Nissan (200sx) after 10 years and 165K miles and no major problems - I never thought I'd keep a car so long but it really has been a great car and I'm hoping the coupe will be as good.

Badge snobbery is funny as I don't think BMW really has a great image either these days - they seem to be more common than Ford's these days :fuelfire:

Like many above i also contemplated a 350z or a 370z before i got my Z4 last year.

I have come from mainly jap cars (celica and then S2K) so wanted another jap car.. over a generally more expensive and less reliable german motor.

My mate got a 350z GT first... and as soon as i sat in it i loved it! The interior is plasticy.. but then imo i dont buy a car to admire the quality of the interior! Its feels torque and fast and comfy and spacious. and in the GT trim i think very well quipped.

So the reason i got the Z4 instead.... the boot is next to useless on the 350Z (better on the 370) due to the boot strut. Its very noisy driving in the wet - as the rear is open to the cabin.... much noisy then my roadster even... and the mpg and tax are much more expensive.

Also having been to santapod with my mate with the facelift 350z i can safely say my 3.0si is faster in a straight line (but doesnt feel so)!

The later interior is a much better improvement over early 350Z's, ive seen alot worse interiors on more modern cars and JAP cars are not exactly known for there awesome interiors. Seating position and dials are perfect though and its fun having an adjustable shift light as standard.

Like many above, I looked at the 350Z too.

Not being a badge snob, the quality is simply just not as good as BMW.

Too many cheap plastics and obvious parts from the same parts bin as their cheaper models. Build quality simply not as good.

What summed it up was a good friend of mine who has one - he always goes on about how his is 1 second faster on 0-60 than my 3.0si.
He finally had a chance to come for a drive in my Z a few months ago and was astounded by the BMW build quality and interior. Just a much nicer place to be. Nissan can't touch BMW on this one.

You wouldn't think twice if you you were comparing a Nissan and BMW family saloon would you?

The 3.0si is a tenth or two quicker to 60 then a stock 350Z.

I wouldnt bang on about BMW build quality either as its clear the Z4 has alot more common problems then the 350Z.

It all comes down to what you want from a car and for me the Z4 felt too smooth and comftable, it was too easy to drive and felt like i was in a BMW saloon at times, its the only reason i'm not to sure about getting a E90 330d next as i think i'll just get bored after a while.
