Z4 Track Day Group

Pretty sure this post is ok after reading the guidelines/forum rules but if it isn't, please feel free to delete it.

I've noticed there aren't many Z4 focused track day forums or groups on FB, so I've taken the plunge and created one. This is the first group I've ever created and isn't for commercial gain. I've met loads of like-minded people through track days and just want a place where we can discuss all stuff track-related.

I’m in same situation (i.e. not keen on creating a fb account). How about a group chat using an app like Discord?

WhatsApp groups are easier…

I also personally find same marque track days quite boring…although this appears to be more about creating a forum for Z4 owners to discuss track day related matters as opposed to Z4 track days.

WhatsApp groups are definitely easier. I’m in a M3 Trackday WhatsApp group and it’s great. Discord can be really annoying with how it operates

A WhatsApp one would be a good idea for all the ludities who don’t fancy FB

You are correct, the idea behind the FB group was because there are loads of Z4-related groups where people discuss everything from track day builds to car mats to which wiper blades are best. A few of us wanted a space that was focused towards prepping for track and track days, tyre/brake compounds, things that fail on track etc.

I'm hoping its a place where people help each other out and can have a laugh/take the mick a bit too.

The only concern I have is that this is a hobby for me and I don't want it to take up too much time.

The one thing I will say is that the best Whatsapp groups I am in are the ones where people have met in person and have an understanding of each other. The ones where people never meet tend to descend into chaos.

A subforum on here would be good, could have sections on organising track day, Photos/videos and track day prep.

I’m along way away from most of you now (and I don’t really use Facebook anymore either), but I’m interested in the idea of a group or sub-forum here. I’ve joined the Facebook group for anyway in lieu of any other ideas coming to fruition.

for me something that definitely would be of use is ideas for aftermarket/improved parts as OE parts become NLA.

I guess a few of you will have seen my thread about the Z4M OE Oil Cooler beingNLA now from BMW. Sharing of knowledge/ideas for aftermarket/upgrades for bits will always be useful, particularly as these cars get older!
