z4 top wont go down

Hi I have a 03 Z4 with automatic top, the top down release button behind the seat was accidentally pushed while the top was still on and it broke, can anyone point to a simple DIY to fix it. my power up/down buttons do not work as a result i cannot get the top down.

Not sure what you mean by topdown release button - and what happens when you press the buttons, do you get any lights ?

Do you have anything in the trunk/boot which is pushing up on the movable shelf that the top folds down onto?

If that shelf isn't all the way down in the lower position, the top won't go down.

I put that up one time and forgot about it. Was in a panic for almost 30 mins...
