z4 third-generation?

Hey guys

I was thinking about getting a E89 next year but I have seen rumours or a new Z4 coming soon. Which is co-developed with Toyota which I isn’t a bad thing as I like the GT86 and BRZ which was co-developed between Subaru and Toyota.

Most sites confirm a six-cylinder engine will be used and not hybrid which makes me very happy. Mind you I don’t mind a 4 cylinder turbo either.

Most sites haven’t a clue on when its coming some say it’s coming in 2015 and then some say 2017. I am personally hoping late 2015 like September or something like that. But the new Audi TT is coming out soon and even seen a advert on it and SLK had re-design two year ago. Mind you the MX5 has been the same for while or have they released a new one yet?

My Dream would be that it would be mixture of the E85 and the E89, with the front of the E89 and the back of the E85 with the soft-top. The interior would also be from the E89 apart from the seats which would be from the E85, I don’t know why I just think they look better.

So does anyone else have a ideas on when this new version of the Z4 comes out?

I'm sure I read 2017 / 2018. I've not seen any recent articles so that may be way off the mark.
 
2015 makes sense if they go through a 6 year cycle, but e89 Z4 sales have not been ace from what I've seen. But I haven't been looking at the press, so don't really have a clue. I'd bet they don't go back to a soft top though...
 
Fiat 500 has a soft roof. Did you mean a Mazda MK5?

I have only heard rumors of the Z2 in conjunction with Toyota, nothing about a Z4.

BMW are releasing new cars every 5 minutes at the moment so it feels :)
 
This article states that it's 2018 for the next one, and will be called Z5... I like the idea that the "Z5M would use the 425-hp turbo six from the new 2015 BMW M3 and M4."
 
They never did a M version of the E89 (which is why I don't have a Z4 anymore), so would be surprised if they did one for the Z5.
