Z4-The First Time

Hi
I finally got to drive a Z4 yesterday and loved it. I was worried I would not fit as being 6`2" I am quite tall, with the seat lowered I really liked the driving position.
I am now looking to get a Z4 myself and would appreciate any help or advice on what to look for when purchasing a used one and what models/ engine size to go for, it would have to be an earlier one.
The one I drove yesterday was a 2004 2.5 SE auto and it felt quite nice to drive, even though I am not used to driving an auto.
What do people reckon is better auto or manual?

Hi Gary, lots of information on the Forum, so do a search and read the post at the beginning of the section on:

If you're going for an early Zed then hold out for a 3.0 litre as they are the most sought after and be patient (if you can) to find a well cared for and well maintained example (though service intervals are surprisingly lengthy). If you're not bothered by engine size then a 2.5 litre will be nearly as capable on the road.
The auto fits well with the 6 cylinder engine though many enthusiast drivers prefer a manual.

Welcome to the forum. :) Try a manual I suspect that will be the one you like. Best boom for your buck are the 3ltr models. Enjoy your hunting.
