z4 - superchargers / turbos?

See thread here for a supercharger conversion + lots of nice extras...

thats a great topic - now its just even more tempting to go get one! amongst other mods... but there is the whole loss of value on car + outlay :) have to ahve a think on that

One of the members ran an ESS for a good while on his Zed before selling. As far as I remember really pleased with the kit and performance, however at sale time he could not sell the car and had to remove it, sell it and then trade the car as 'normal' as you say a consideration. You may also find a big hike in insurance costs.

A year ago I woudl have gone this route but frankly now the way the market has changed I'd just buy an ///M if I actually wanted that performance

hey thanks for that info - i had considered just going for an M but the only problem for me is in aus the M's are a good 25k more expensive (cars are very expensive over here). + you should get more perforamnce out of the SC :)

insurance im not sure how much it would go up - investigating it now.

i suppose the other thing is im not sure if there will come a time when i want to sell it - im hoping to hold onto this for 5-10 years type thing, even just as my 2dr sports car :)

do yuo know who it was who had the ess? might try dropping them a pm to find out more,

Cheers

Was wondering if anyone had put a supercharger / turbo into their zed?

I've got the Infinitas Asa sk-I with intercooler installed on my '03 - 3.0 Z4 and am loving early mile/ kilometer driving it. Power is up to EUR 320HP, 420NM. it gives ///M's quite a tough time, that's for sure. A serious Autobahn speeds, their higher revs allow them to get away slightly, didnt want to mess with the M54 rev limiter. More than once I've scared the hell out of M5/M6/Z4 M drivers at a stoplight sprint who were left in shock after meeting up with my cute little 3.0... DEVIL  Removed all the badges, no advance warning :D
Check http://www.g-power.de/926.html?L=1&carid=16000&artgr=16002#Produkt_Start to get some more info.

haha good stuff :) :driving:

hadnt heard of that group of kits before - so much choice now :) if i end up doing it im leaning towards the ess sc kit - but the more feedback the better :P

did you upgrade anything else on your car MdV?

lol. thats has been a thought that has come up a couple of times but i think the M is actually going to end up a lot more expensive in the long run, especially with servicing etc. still i'll be looking to test drive one and see what its like!

M cars cost a fortune in Aus. That and having to learn to drive a manual put me off getting one.

I ended up getting the 2006 si as its 195kw vs the earlier 3l at 165kw.

However due to engine differences, (AFAIK) there aren't many (any?) options for forced induction. Doesn't overly bother me, as I'd rather not kill my engine.

hehe yea - i ahvent noticed a kit for the 06. And yea having done some more checks on the M pricing its ridiculous over here in comparison.

would it really do much dmg to the engine - i figured as it was air and as long as you kept up the servicing on the engine it would just be normal wear and tear (based on how hard you drive the car)?
