Z4 spec sheet

I'm new to the forum so please humour me.

I'm looking to buy a six cylinder z4 and asked my insurers for a price. They asked about mods including factory accessories and how much they cost. Does anyone know where I could get an accessories list with prices for a UK 2004 model?

Sorry I don't know where you would find a price list for options - the one I've got is for facelift models.

But your first stop has to be finding out which options are fitted to the car you are thinking about. If you get the last 7 characters of the VIN (usually 2 letters and 5 digits) and put them in here you'll get a list:- https://www.bmwvin.com/

Normally the only mods an insurance company are concerned with on an older car, are performance mods. Suspension brakes engine and such. The only factory fit one, I know of, was the delimiter option that was available on ///Ms in some mainland European markets. A common after market fit that you should declare if fitted, is a strut brace in the engine bay? Most other OEM goodies, fitted at build, will be absorbed into the price of the car after 14 years. A good history and tidy looking interior are worth a lot more than an out date sat nav, for example.

Any how's welcome and happy hunting?

Admiral are running about factory options. I had to list PDC as it wasn’t standard.

Never had to value the mods though, and Admiral have never been that specific so the GruppeM I think is just listed as an air filter change, and doesn’t include the name.

I'd start dealing with a more sensible insurer. If they're that picky now, how do you think you'd fare if unlucky enough to have a major claim?
My son's Z4 is insured with Direct Line - no such questions asked.

It's admiral. Maybe I got someone really picky but when we first insured the family Jeep they asked whether the tow bar was factory fit or aftermarket, detachable, what type of electrics etc. Really thorough but hassle if you didn't fit the accessories.

My Admiral multi-car policy asks for all the modifications, but also notes that they won’t pay out for the mods in the event of a claim.

Sorry to hi-jack there used to be a vin decoder site that generate a pdf with exterior and interior shot of car in the correct colour/spec etc.. anyone know what that site was and if it is still running?

I’m sure there will be people on here with positive views on Admiral but my daughter needed to make a claim with them recently after someone ran into the back of her car at speed and wrote it off. The claim handling was shocking and involved a lot (and I mean a lot) of unnecessary stress. I vowed then I’d never give them any business no matter how cheap their quotes might be.
