Z4 Sometimes hesitant to start

This has been a recent occurrence where when turning the ignition, the engine turns but it sounds like its not catching and I have to do it a couple times before it gets going.
It sounds like one of those very old cars that struggle to start in the morning.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the issue?

Starter motor on the way out? Could be quite a few things based on the description, maybe try taking a video?

Fully charge your battery and then immediately try starting the engine (from cold). If it starts properly, your battery and/or alternator may be due some attention/replacement.

Check if your orange equipment test/fault lights come on the dash as soon as you turn the ignition switch. If they don't it could be a dodgy ignition switch contact causing an intermittent fault, as that is quite common and an cheap/easy thing to fix.
