Z4 Soft Top Black Side Covers (pair)

Sold! Winning bid:
£336.00
:o
I had to laugh when I read "grab yourself a bargain" in the description.
As always, they are worth whatever the market will pay on the day, so well done the seller :)

Winning bid OMG can’t see why they are a needed item myself

I think they look great. I honestly thought the first Z4 Roadster I looked at must have been missing some trim pieces when I was faced by the ugly exposed roof mechanism with the roof down. It looks like BMW forgot to finish the job. These side covers make it look like it should look, in my opinion, and if £300 was a throwaway sum to me, I'd be buying a pair right away :)

I admit I put a bid In for £259, only to see if anyone in here can replicate a 3D print of them.... then sell them on.

Surely someone has a set on here that they can lend to the 3D printers on here to bang a few sets out???

Believe a few people have looked into 3D printing these. I know naff all about 3D printing (yet!) but I believe the size means you'd need to split into multiple smaller prints unless using a large commercial printer, the rigidity is possibly an issue especially as I imagine these are frequently left in place by accident when closing the roof, and the latching mechanism adds complexity.

Not insurmountable, but problematic. I am going to look into getting copies of my internal hard top lock covers done, but even if running off a batch the price won't be especially cheap based on ballpark estimates.

That’s terrible that you would stoop down to that level....
Err... I did put in quite a few bids before backing off too

P.S... looking at a hardly used set on Ebay.de. Took some serious searching let me tell you. Will let you know if I get it :scratchhead:

The 349 euro ones?

£336!! LOL! You done alright there  I'll have to keep my eye out for a set of these to stick on ebay. Wouldn't put them on the car, prefer the look of the gap. I can't believe someone would pay that much for a couple of bits of plastic. Mind boggling :tumbleweed:

I get the fact that poeple kinda start to go a bit OCD with their Z's and have thier own visions of what their car should look like. You only have to go to a meet to see all the different mods and their proud creators, and that's kinda nice :) . I admit, I bought a hard top, fitted B12 kit and spacers along with storm handbrake and gearstick covers. These are things BMW should've made standard to give the car some stance and looks. But I think the plastic side covers detract from the raw, mecahical aesthetics of a roadster. I like the original Z 2003 before any changes to it whatsoever. Every change BMW made started to ruin it for me. The rear tail lights are round (a bit of a ferrari rip off) and work great with the car. Move to the first upgrade and the tail lights change and the back end looks terrible. The raw roadsters gone, replaced by some lights from a family runaround. Roll the upgrades forward and it gets worse until you now have the Saloon/roadster hybrid. Maybe we could start a thread of how "it's done and not done', any visual comparisons you can think of...?

Bonkers.
I'll be 3D printing and selling these just as soon as I can get my hands on an original pair to scan.
Anyone care to join me in this commercial venture?
My Ultimaker printer is prepped and ready to go....

Well judging by how lifelike that prototype 3D cat is, I have every confidence that the side covers will come out well [ref]Chris_D[/ref]!

If I was you, I'd fork out the ridiculous cost for a set and print them off till my heart was content. You'd get your money back in no time.

I’d certainly have a set from you if they are reasonably priced . Afraid I can’t help with letting you borrow a pair though :(
