I want it to snow more and more, & continue snowing for the rest of the year.

Then I'll be able to justify buying a Panda 8)

Could you just move to the antartic or so and leave us with the sunshine? :)

You'll need one of these Nodwells, not too sporty but they do have dual Fire extinguishers... :D

One of these for the farm would be handy...

Z4 Beemer, X-Type - the 6 cylinders were 4x4. Quite a few issues with them I think, but a friend has an estate with the Sport Premium pack - look very nice. Good engine note too!

cj10jeeper, have to know... is your lovely Zed back okay? EDIT... and Mrs CJ of course

PVR, very envious of the garage and car port - and the M they house! Good work on the shovelling - bought a "collapsable" snow shovel to keep in the boot, makes a huge difference!

I found the fix to all your Z4 snow problems!

My car hasn't moved off my GF's drive for the past 4 days BUT had to move it today as she needed to go shopping :( , couldn't even reverse off the drive lol!

Finally after a few pushes the car was outta the way and on next doors drive (haha). Then had a unfun drive in a C3 Plurial to Tesco's. Came back and thought id move the Zed back onto our drive same problem!

So I thought "need some weight on the back", opened the boot, called my GF outta the house (who was cooking my tea) and sat her in it! Hurray the car moved!!!!

So there you go folks stick your GF, Wife, Daughter, Boyfriend in your boot and your Zed will move with ease.

Yup, weight in the boot definitely helps a lot - I used this trick this evening to help move a colleagues BMW 5 series estate from the snowed up car park, opened up his boot and got 3 or 4 colleagues to sit in it - worked a treat, had him moving in no time :)

She is back - and mrs CJ even came back too. Flled with Tesco 99 so I can't complain :)
Spent 30 minutes in the freezing cold though trying a frozen X5 door 'fix' we shall see in the morning if it worked.

I have an old Y reg Daihatsu Terios I use for shopping/diy pick-ups/ transporting mountain bikes and taking stuff to the tip!

It's been brilliant in this snow and ice! Hasn't put a wheel wrong yet and hasn't found anything it cant negotiate so far either!

Just checked the Met Office website; the weather station at RAF Benson (2 miles from me) is curently showing -15.1C ...another duvet morning tomorrow I think...

All these people who go soft when it gets cold and snowy! :poke: :P

Been stuck in the last 2 days - but think I'm going to have a go at it tomorrow. Main roads are fine but it's a twisty downhill to them. Wish me luck!

Don't want to come across as a blowhard but around here that kind of snow is really nothing. However, I do have 4 snow tires on and have been driving in this sort of crap all my life so it's not really fair. That said, experience or not, I wouldn't even take the Z out ....better stay home or steal your wife's car!!

Hi PurpleVTwin... first post straight in with a punch to the kidneys, oh, hang on...

Ah... yes, we're really not equipped for this sort of weather (every now and then). Would almost welcome more snow so I could get on and buy myself a little 4x4!

Welcome to the forum! What have you got? Specs? And better get some pics up before someone opens a can of :poke:

(Bike?)

PurpleVTwin - welcome

The problem with the UK is this never happens. This is considered the worst and longest period of cold and snow for 30 years. Result is that we don't have equpment to clear it nor are the majority of drivers experienced in it. I'd say 50% of the motorist have never even driven on a significant amount of snow. Nobody has even got Winter tyres and our best effort is a few snow ploughs and grit lorries.

As for me - I love the stuff and have competed in 4x4 in the Alps and Pyrenees in deep snow, but echo your sentiment that the Zeds not the right car, especially on normal tyres

It was -17C at RAF Benson last night, and still -12C this morning....little wonder! :)

A little warmer today! Interestingly a friend notice the same as me... crossing from Berkshire to Oxfordshire the roads get a lot worse. How you getting on? More snow forecast here for 9pm... assume you'll be well home by then though.

Yeah, the snow is nothing here really, it's just the country isn't set up for it - we've not had snow like this for 100 years so naturally nobody is prepared for it. We never fit snow tyres to cars in the UK and at the moment the local councils aren't even gritting the roads at all - basically we're unprepared :)

It's not that bad, it's just not melting and is getting added to each night.

*IF* the councils had done their job better, there would be little problem for anyone.

Basically they have buggered up, yet once again under Labour and Labour councils, no one will get a bollocking for it, and they will just do it again next time it comes a cold snap :headbang:

Not so fussed myself, I can buy winter tyres, BUT, I already pay a premium in the UK for the roads, as do ALL road users, subsidising them by about 10x the actual spend back... THAT is what gets me, we pay huge amounts for a shitty service!

Dave

+1.

It's the pavements that shock me, I walked somewhere and couldn't believe it - most of the roads are fine by now but thr pavements are lethal.

As long as I can get to the pub and back, I'm happy.

well said

I do agree they've mucked up somewhat, but the state of the roads could be a LOT worse... We dont really pay a premium for road tax though. Other european countries all have similar ways of making money, be it taxation or toll roads (once spent €65 a day in tolls in Italy!).

I was sure the snow you guys are getting isn't normal, certainly not what I grew up with in scenic Luton (and elsewhere). The pics I've seen of the UK look like the snow out west here, and although we are "supposed" to be set up for this, it is the biggest political hot potato in Calgary because we aren't !!!! The city has more than doubled in size while the amount of snow removal equipment has stayed static in the same period.......taxes went up though. :x

Eastern Canada is warmer & gets lots and lots of wet, heavy snow, the west is colder and gets much less snow and the west coast is like UK weather.
I'll take the cold and minimum snow over heavy wet stuff anytime......
