Z4 + Snow

and PawnSacrifice has got me looking at Panda 4x4's.
:D

They're apparently awesome in the snow - always see lots of the original square ones in ski resorts in the Alps (well, I did during the summer last year). Not sure how good the new one is - teaming it up with the 100HP engine would be fun.

IIRC Top Gear had a Daihatsu in the show a few serie ago - dressed up as a fox. It appeared to be pretty good offroad being small and light. Edit: just found the video of it on their site.

careful with the X5. Loads of notes regarding the frozen handles on the X5 forum and the effects of opening them (i.e. some part breaking on the inside which leaves them inoperable).

My drive is currently covered in about 50 - 60 cm of snow and I have only managed to clear the first 10 metres of it. So now have 1.5 metre high piles on either side. Still can't get any cars out though.

Sadly I'm too aware of it. Last year the inside of the lock froze and I pulled a bit hard. End result was a cracked locking mechanism support frame and a 3 hour door strip down to rebuild :(

I'll look on the forums as I did not realise it was common

Panda 4x4's are almost unstoppable. We had a buddy used to off road them. Fitted with winter tyres the front and rear bumper covers came off in minutes from then on it was awesome. Of course deep ruts were inmpossible so he'd drive sideways along banks at impossible side angles. He used to run them for a season then sell to cricket clubs to tow the grass rollers around.

See Andy... do it
(I mailed that guy about the old one on eBay but didn't hear back)

For everyone else...

Looking at the comments I think people were taking this too seriously!

Yeah it's gotta be the old one though like you said, the new one has lost the coolness factor. 8)

As I said tho, just not snowy enough really and for every other journey it would be a bit of a pig. Might have to find one to drive though.

So i might get the shovel and grit out so that i can get out for the weekend. That'll take ages :(

I did that yesterday for a few hours. Just as I gave up when I felt I had done enough it started snowing again. Been out again this morning.

It's good excersise too, my bum checks were aching this morning after bending over shovelling snow from right to left and left to right for ages yesterday. :P

Just got home after spending the week in Yorkshire, luckily a colleagues Saab ferried us from the hotel to the office leaving my MC under a blanket of snow at the Hotel. The 60 mile trip home was a bit scary but made it onto the drive and promptly got stuck.

Picking up a Volvo S40 shed tomorrow, White, Auto 1 owner. My MC will be hibernating for the foreseeable.

This is snow clearing (4 hours and blisters to prove it ...)

That is with a normal spade - don't have a snow one. Painful mistake ...

i love it! i cant get off the drive or down my road but its given me a chance to catch up on jeremy kyle, oh and fit my new wheels! :D

I want it to snow more and more, & continue snowing for the rest of the year.

Then I'll be able to justify buying a Panda 8)

Could you just move to the antartic or so and leave us with the sunshine? :)

Hmm, I guess it would then limit the reasons for owning a convertible too. Tricky one.

By the way, good job with the shovel. :D
