Z4 Shape

I'm looking to buy a Z4. Have my eye on a roadster 2.2si 05. Before I drive 100 miles to the garage for a look can anyone tell me if whether it has a large backside or a skinny backside.

A Z4 down the road seems to be skinny at the back. Not sure how old it is due to private reg. Am I right in thinking certain Z4's are different shapes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers. tata

There are only 2 shapes of the Z4. Roadster (soft top) and Coupe (hard top). The rear of both looks different but as far as I am aware the rear bumpers are the same. There was an uplift of the rear lights around 2006 on both cars.

Are you sure the other isn't a Z3?

Add to Breakers comments that there is also a hardtop that can be fitted to the roadster that has a tendency to make the back look lower and wider. Very different to the Coupe that is of course a fixed and sloped metal roof.

The ///M with quad exhaust can look a little different too, but the basic dimensions across the rear are identical and the bumpers of all almost* interchangeable (*the later style lights are a slightly different profile)

Any reason to go for the 2.2? It was a short lived engine and now discontinued with the tendency for people to have either elected for the small 2 litre 4 cylinder(lighter, cheaper, economical) or the larger and similar 2.5 /3.0 (6 cyl)

...me either. The coupe, to me, looks pretty danged wide. The way the hatchback slopes inward really emphasizes the rear wheel arches. .
