Z4 servicing

My 05 2.5 z4 will need servicing in about 1500 miles as per what the onboard computer says but im not sure what the best course of action is. The last service was an inspection 1 so i assume this one will be an inspection 2? Will taking it to an indy be much cheaper than a main dealer? My nearest bmw dealer is sopers of lincoln and iv heard it mentioned on here a few times, has anybody had much to do with them?

Cheers

nuh uh... next one is an oil service (the cheapest one). An indy will always be cheaper than a BMW dealer but likely not by much for an oil service. Note also that you won't get the all important BMW dealer stamp in your service book (this may not bother you, depending on mileage/your intentions with the car), plus you need to make sure you get a good indy (of course). There's a thread around here on the pros/cons of using an Indy/Dealer (called "Service Costs" I think).

On an oil service, the saving on an Indy probably won't be massive, though if you get a good one, it'll may well be a better quality service!

If your car has a full BMW service history at the moment, I would be inclined to go to a dealer for this one as you probably won't need another for a couple of years and it'll help resale

ah good thatll save some pennies then :D its done about 65000 and i plan on keeping it for a while, it has got a full bmw service history but i always thought the main dealers were alot more expensive

65,000 and the last service was an inspection 1?
That doesn't quite add up, mate... You sure the last service was inspection 1? iirc, inspection 1 should be done around 30,000 odd miles.
Mine's done 52,000 and is due an inspection 2 in about 3,000 miles.

I'm planning on keeping mine for as long as I can too, and the saving on an inspection 2 plus the fact that I've got a great indy 5 minutes up the road mean I'm ditching my FBMWSH when the time comes :)

Sorry to kinda hijack your thread but does anyone know of approximate mileage for the Inspection 1, Inspection 2, oil changes and the like?
I realize it has to do with how you drive your car but I'd think there'd be an average mileage these are done.

(edit- for mileage) Mine has about 57k miles and says I have about 10k miles to the next service... wondering what service that might be as well.

Thanks!
Carl

Someone's already written them out somewhere around here, try a search for service intervals or similar... Though from memory, I think it's average every 15,000 miles

15,000 - oil service
30,000 - inspection 1
45,000 - oil service
60,000 - inspection 2

Though like you say it does depend on how it's driven

aha looking at the service books and invoices properly its had the insp 1 at 37000 and the oil service at 51000 so id imagine its gonna be the insp 2 that needs doing, bugger! oh well at least i dont need to do the front brakes for a bit as it looks like they were done not long ago

And how long between services. As I work away from the UK much of the year my services now fall outside the accepted mile count but with a computer reset when serviced so my mileage won't match a car used daily/regularly.
