Hi I have just collected my new car 2.5 i se and noticed marks on soft top at both side exactly horizontal to each other seems to be hitting rear seal when lowered has anybody else seen this.Spoke to BMW and they seem happy to adjust roof and replace canvas top under warranty
 
I have very slight marks on mine, but I do know some on here have had real wear problems where its hitting the seal at the back when the roof goes down, if they are offering get them to do it, it will only get worse.
 
Hello, I have also had this problem... I noticed the roof going a bit thin on either side and thought the same as you that it was catching the rubber seal.
I was told by the guy at my local dealer that there was nothing to worry about and that it would probably not get any worse therefore sent me on my way.

I was not that pleased with that and it was bothering me so I took it to another dealership, by this time the warranty had expired.

It was confirmed that there had been a problem from manufacture with the roof vibrating against something while the roof was in the storage position ie roof down.

Now because the warranty had run out they offered to replace the roof with goodwill however I had to pay half the labour cost, £450.00.

Although I complained to customer services I still had to pay...

I bought my Z4 as a pre-regerstered / demonstrater with about 2000 miles on the clock and because I do not clock up many miles it took a long time for this problem to appear. It is a 07 car and it only has 14k on the clock now.

Regards Jeff... I also had a problem with water getting in through the passenger side door seal...

HI, car been at Dealer for two days as they are replacing roof and adjusting the roof so there is no rubbing on rear seal.Dealer phoned to say car not ready and they didnt want to rush it so have told them as i am going away for weekend i would leave it with them until Monday.However Dealer seems very keen to sort out any of my problems so far BMW Harry Fairbairns Irvine Ayrshire
 
Hi,Went to collect car on Monday looks as they have done good job on roof replacement but started car up and ticking noise coming from engine .Had car checked at BMW Edinburgh 2 weeks ago they said no fault found. So asked Tech at Fiarbairns Irvine to start up car before leaving Garage he confirmed problem.Left car with Dealer to check in Morning again? Spoke to dealer today they again confirmed problem and are stripping engine to investigate didnt look to impressed when i told them i was aware of S.B 11.09.07 [h.v.a] noise. will keep you posted i must say dealer has been good in dealing with problems on car
 
After garage heard engine noise stripped engine to replace H/tappets plus rockers hope this cures it but on returning home lifted bonnet to have a look found bolt missing from engine cover doesnt fill you with confidence will run car for few miles to see if engine ticking noise has been fixed. Engine ticking again returned car to dealer dealer reported fault to BMW replaced with new cylinder head complete
