Z4 ROOF URGENT HELP REQUIRED

How did you get on OP?

From reading your response about it working on the floor, I'd say it's either one of two things, when you installed it in the car it was at a dodgy angle, or maybe you're getting an over-exaggerated angle on the floor and it needs a bit more fluid to work at the correct angle.

Its fitted correct in car as it cant be wrong ? bolted in place with two bolts either side behind driver and passenger, Theese bolt holes are fixed so they cant be wrong ? the oil is at correct level . and when testing on floor it was help in place by hand as it wud be in the car

The motor itself isn't bolted anywhere is it?

I meant that maybe the angle of the motor was different on the floor as to how it was in the car. The angle of the motor can make a big difference if it is slightly under the correct fluid capacity from what I can tell.

I have checked the pump angle and its ok . what does the red light mean at the operating switch though ?

I think either the electrical connecters are crossed going onto the motor or the hydraulic pipes are crossed, it's happened before to many, If you can get access to the l/h side where the wires go to the motor...disconnect the plug (2 wires) and jimmy up some wire to connect it the other way round just for testing !

i did notice on the new and old pump that they both had different numbers at the banjo bolt connections where the hydrauilic pioes go ?

when an indie fixed mine - he had a problem with air in the system that he had to go to BMW for, after that it worked fine

The sensor ( they are two of them in the same location ) . with the roof fully open . if you stand outside the car just behind the passengers door facing the drivers side of the car . and look down at the folding roof mechansim just behind the passenger seat . and look down through the mechaism and look as though were looking through the mechanism to the bottom of the car where the pump sits for the roof . its easier if you remove the two seals the sit on top of the passenger roof mechanisim . if you look very carefully you will see this . see atached image . its a lot easier to see them with the folding roof out the car and on a bench .the one i fitted was the sensor to the left of the screwdriver in the pic :D ...This i fitted with the top removed from the car due to its location . these sensors tell the roof module if the roof is open or closed .
