Hi Guys,
Please help.
As you are probably all aware the design fault on the z4 roof motor that keeps getting flooded with water is a real pain.
Saying that i had mine replaced by BMW just under 2 years ago and luckily for me it has gone again just before the warranty runs out.
BMW have just called me to say that the again flooded out motor is not covered under warranty because it is not a design fault and i will have to pay £1500 again to fix it.
IS THIS RIGHT ?
Any advise PLEASE xx

Sounds about right - its a poor show.
There are 3 or 4 members here who could possibly resurrect your motor and relocate it into the boot for a fraction of the cost.

Firstly , it's probably pointless trying to argue with the idiots at BMW on this as I suppect they won't change there mind , but if it's not a design fault and they repaired it 2 years ago why is it full of water ? Anyway they will revert to you having to regularly check the drain holes as the reason why it's failed, so unless you can prove they were regularly cleared I doubt you have any chance of arguing the toss . But it is piss poor design .

On a positive note the motors are very strong and normally can be revived with a small amount of TLC and then moved inside the boot to avoid this happening again . There are a few member here that can help you do this, for a fraction of the cost they are quoting you. Probably best to give your location and then someone in your area will be in contact .

When mine went the BMW extended Warranty also rejected my claim outright
My Dealer were in middle of job cost me just over £1000 but Dealer gave me a £500 Dealer credit as they were so unhappy with the outcome.
Depending on where you are you should use one of the guys around the Country to recover motor ,revive it and then mount in boot
typically no more than £250 and the issue will never raise it's head again

Where in Country are you .............

Get it relocated ftw!
You know it makes sense!
That should be Mike's catchphrase  maybe with a '... lar' tagged on the end.

If nothing else the motor problem has prompted you to join the forum - perhaps you might like to introduce yourself and your Zed (someone will be along soon to suggest you post pictures  ) I've found no end of fantastic information on here and so many positive comments from members.

As others have said provide an idea of location and then we can see how you are close to help with repairs - at a lot less than BMW prices. I can think of four members from the posts I've read who will move the motor to the boot. Where ever you are you are never too far away and it only takes some of them an hour tops to do the job - so good day trip out and a problem solved.

Good luck and remember the forum is as good as its members so don't wait until you have another problem to post again.

I can sort this for you and relocate it at the same time from £80.

If you can't use the pm system yet, email me at [email protected]

Had mine relocated a couple of weeks ago by Mike, (ducklakeview), mine was in good working order so just needed relocating. I understand that he also offers a service to resurrect the motor if its dead.
If you are anywhere near Merseyside I would say its well worth your while giving Mike a visit. I was very pleased with the work he did on mine.
