Z4 Roof Motor Replacement

I'd be looking to relocate a working motor for around £200 with the motor being hidden.

As a guide if you've seen some of my threads previously with motors ive replaced in the factory location you will see the standard of work I set.

As my roof motor is quite old, and no doubt fully soaked, I would be interested in having a new one. What is the cost for a new motor and having it relocated?
Thanks

How much would it cost to move a working motor to the boot ??

That's the only question that really needs answering to determine if a market exists. The price wholly determines if there is a market for preventative Vs the existing post failure repair and relocation.

Without the price me adding 'me too' is pointless.

I think it is a no brainer, I would certainly have my motor moved to the boot, £200 seems to be a reasonable price

That's a do-able price point. Without divulging your technical process which I would not ask or want you to post online, what is required?
Is this a roof off or access elsewhere

Where exactly does the motor end up in the boot as I have the large Bluetooth module on the bulkhead?

I'm based near Camberley in Surrey.

Looking at around £570 to replace the motor with a new BMW unit while relocating.

I've got a couple of places I want to try the motor in so that the install is as factory as possible so will confirm this :)

Tug has done a few
Looks a neat install
Iirc on his it goes in the recess between suspension an bulkhead on the left
An the covered by a trim panel

going against the grain, i like to keep things original so not in the boot for me. maybe if i had the cost of a couple of new motors i may suddenly change my mind

I agree with keeping things as OEM as possible however as OEM has proven to be useless I think a change is reqiured. I shall be looking forward to doing this in time.

If mine ever fails then I'd go for the boot option, but in the meantime I'm checking the drain holes regularly with my fingers crossed!

Hi Bowser,

I'm certainly looking to get this done fairly soon. Next month or at the very latest, January. How much time do you require as I'd be coming from Leicester? Do you carry the hydraulic cables in case the current ones aren't in good nick?

Thanks,

Rajen

In the boot's a good option in case you need to check the oil level or replace the motor. Would have saved me a LOT of hassles if mine had been in the boot when it needed replacing.

That's great, I am over in Addlestone so just up the road.. Let me know when ready to do these and you can have mine. Cheers Jim
