Z4 Roof Motor Replacement

goldbcfc said:
Tempted to have a crack at this on my own z4 as the pump was new last year fitted by last owner at £600+. Can I gain access to the pump from the boot or from inside the car behind the seats by removing the plastic tray that the roof sits on when folded?
Yes. You only need to raise the left hand side, no need to take the tray out (although it would probably make access a bit easier)

Another happy Ross customer - well worth the money for the peace of mind (and the £500 to replace a fubared motor).

Coming from me having 3 series the last 10yrs I feel having a Z4 now its built on the real cheap probably to save weight on parts etc but it does seem a very less expensive built luxury model bmw for sure. Full of brittle plastic or rotten parts

Hi bowser,

New to this forum and I need my roof motor replacing.

Can you please get intouch.

Thanks,

tom.

Before you buy new one, worth taking old one out and clean inside out, there's at big change it will work again. Two contacts are on the bottom that can easy corrode if left in watter. Happy to help if you close to Gatwick.

Hi Bowser134,

Hope you're well bud.

I bought my Z4 a few months back but now the motor has possibly gone and doesnt go down, just unlatches.

I tried PMing you but as I'm fairly new so it wont let me so could you please message me to discuss this amazing repair service you offer :)

Cheers
Pri

Thanks to BMW's poor design work, it is a matter of WHEN, not IF the motor fails. The motor died on my car in early July this year while I was away overnight an hour from home with the roof down. Fortunately the weather was fine for the trip home, and later to the BMW dealer a little over an hour away. What was not fine was the cost, as the red Bowden Cable was also seized and inoperative. Total repair cost was CAD 2530.21

Just had my roof motor revived and relocated today by Ross (bowsie) as the motor was in pretty good health.

A very efficient guy who knows what he is doing, had my motor out and fixed in less than an hr. A really nice guy and would highly recommend him if anyone needs their motor doing.
