Hi i am in the process of buying a z4 2.0 sport convertable 2006/7 this is the facelift model and i am wondering if this model has the same problem of getting water into the roof motor, how often do people use the drains ta phil,,

I have never cleaned mine out as they still drain freely, but it depends on the conditions your car is subjected to.

The same care needs to be taken with face lifts models as the motors can still fail due to water ingress

I think it is just a good routine to get into, to check and clean the drain bungs. Very quick and easy to do once you have done it once and could save to a lot of heartache in the future.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. I have removed your duplicate post which found its way into the Insurance Scheme thread.....

Did my drains today, worst mistake I made was taking the rubber cover off on the passengers side was nightmare to get back on, had to take wheel off after all. Any way I noticed if you use a long thin plastic wire you can get to them without removing anything and also get your hands up there and clean them out making it really easy to do.

I managed to pt my hand behind the splash panel you normally take off by goings through the small cut out behind the splash panel. Then if you know where the drains are you can get your hand up there and feel for blocks, also I used a small plastic wire to get right in to the drains and seem to work ok.
