Z4 Reversing sensor issue - not just 1 sensor not working

I have a 2004 Z4 and my reversing sensors have started playing up. When I go into reverse I get a solid tone, so I looked on the net and it seemed the recommendation is to put your ear to the sensors to tell which one is faulty. Unfortunately when I did this I found out that 2 were easy to hear and 2 others were making a faint sound. Does this mean 2 sensors have gone or is this showing it might be another issue? If so, is there any way to check what it might be?

You could try moving the working sensors over - that would isolate the fault as being the sensors themselves. They are relatively cheap to pick up off ebay - I had to replace them on my E46.

They are quite prone to failure, on the E46 forums everyone recomended keeping any pressure washer and even hose rinsing directly away from them.

Hook up laptop running inpa or DIS/GT1 and check it out which sensor is faulty. Replace that faulty one with genuine new OEM or buy second hand OEM one. Avoid ebay cheap aftermarket parts, they dont work as they should.
