Z4 Remap

Not heard of them. Not much you can do with the NA engines, without adding bits. BMW did a pretty decent job in the first place.

Hi guys, did anyone heard or have remap done by
REMAPKINGS?

Hi, you’ve posted this in the e85 section - i believe you have an e89? :?
Never heard of those guys, most owners have more confidence using a company that’s well known
Rob

Thx for reply guys. The problem is that the evolve and celtic guys r to far away from me and the REMAPKINGS will come and do it. Plus they have quite decent reviews, is it worth it?

Funny that I just had a conversation this morning with the Spanish agent for Celtic Tuning here in Malaga. I asked him about the quoted figures for the increase of BHP and torque for the N52. Celtic says on their website 18 bhp more and 25 newton meter more torque. I asked him about how realistic those numbers are suggesting that you cannot get any increase from the N52, he told me that if Celtic show a remap available for your car they would have tested it on their Dyno to check the numbers they quote are correct. So according to Celtic and him those increase in numbers are totally correct.

With just 18 Bhp and 25 extra newton meters I don't think you will notice a huge difference in power but from what others who have had their N52 done have confirmed it can make car much better to drive, more responsive less throttle lag etc.

For me it's next mod on the cards together perhaps with the XHP Flastool auto gearbox tune.

REMAPKINGS

They use an Italian set of tools/maps..web site suggest size, a few technical typos in the downloads..Mr Pedantic says..
They havea database of 1700 items

18i goes from 156 to 240 bhp
20i goes from 181 to 270 bhp

and drum roll..

28i goes from 241 to 350 bhp!!!!

If they have a large number of good reviews and they offer you a trial guarantee e.g. 14 days or 30 days money back if you are not happy with the tune, then I see no reason not to use them.

Do they also warrant against your engine/gearbox going bang?

Only tuners I would trust to remap a BMW is Litchfield or Evolve.

AC Schitnzer on newer cars as they offer a warranty which is similar to that of BMW main dealer.

Remapkings? Remapbodge more like.

Of course better to use someone that gives you that warranty but most don't. Even Celtic who are recommended by many here do not give any warranty to cars over 3 years old, which means all E89 and earlier series Zeds.

That’s a good reason for using a different remap co, looks like they light the fuse and then send you on your way

350bhp in the 28i might make you think you'll get away faster but that e89 shame will always be there.

Without changing any internal bits. There she blows me hearty. :surrender:

Here is a question. If the 2.0l cars have the same engine what is the max bhp they can go to without breaking stuff? Is an uprated 20i as good as a 28i? Ok, two questions?

It probably varies according to whom you ask but seems to be around 280ish bhp without tipping over the edge.
What do you mean by “as good as”? :?

If you go to the local guys web site they refer to the products they use to do the mapping..

Then if you go to the Italian company’s web site and request a download you get a database of 1700 vehicles with OE and remap power figures..voila!

Not sure what you mean by local guys website. If you go to remapkings website and put in the car details for Z4 28i you get to the page that I sent the link for which says 290bhp, which as we know is about the right number for this car. After this I put in my UK post code and it just says your technician will be Antony (who is employed by them) and then you have to choose a date and time to make a reservation. I can't find any other page that leads to the info that you have got.

Also a further check on the internet brings these guys up on other car forums and there are no horror stories, one mentions that they use the maps from Quantum Tuning and they have over 100 google reviews and near 300 reviews on Trust Pilot almost all positive even if you count that some might be fake, still paints a pretty good picture.

Sometimes people can be quick to dis a company just because they haven't heard off them or don't like the name of the company instead of making justifiable comments by doing some proper research.

Hello..so..

On this page it says a 20i gives 199 BHP after a remap

https://www.remapkings.com/ConfigOption?temp=084bfcca-6199-4bf4-9664-951fd0b98b5e

On this page it says you get 260 bhp after a remap for a 20i

https://www.remapkings.com/ConfigOption?temp=12459426-a5f5-434a-9bab-50e0f5e34b67

And on this page it shows the tools it uses

https://www.remapkings.com/Blog/Professional_Remapping

Which leads to this page

https://www.alientech-tools.com/en/download/

Where the various BHP figures came from..

Also one one page it says they've done 1800 remaps

https://www.remapkings.com/About

And on another page it says they've done "thousands"

https://www.remapkings.com/Blog/ECU_Remapping

They state that they have been in business since October 2018

So..its by no means all bad..but its not a consistent glowing eulogy

The re-map business is clearly a wild west as a combo of easily mapped turbos and base mapping s/w for peanuts offer rich pickings..

All you need is a £1.5k box and either pukka or pirated downloads and off you go...

So its caveat emperor..that's all..
