Hi all,

Bought a pair of these, but found the other one had been recently replaced any way. Mine has the factory lowered suspension mallarkey. Not sure what else it fits, so check the Part Number!

Purchased direct from BMW dealer (still has both PN tags attached). BMW PN 33536761925

£35 + £8 UK Mainland delivery (or you can collect from near Swindon)

Just to point out springs should always be replaced as a pair if you want your car to handle correctly (Balanced) mate.

Try telling BMW that as they replace only one 99% of the time.

That's an awesome idea!! One spring old, worn and sloppy and one nice fresh tight one!! :headbang: lol
The only time I'd change one and not the other is if it was maybe sub 1000 miles (even then I wouldn't be very happy about it really), I personally don't like changing only the fronts or rears and will only ever change a full set for the same reasons.

I think the point I made was that the other had been "recently replaced".

I'm well aware about switching in pairs which is why I bought 2 from BMW in the first place.

Any way, it's still for sale if someone wants it (to satisfy those who skim read, please remember to change both at the same time).

If your implying I skim read and didn't see you had written "recently replaced" then your mistaken, I did see but just thought it worth a mention (as you hadn't) for anyone that didn't know and ended up with a poorly balanced rear end after fitting a brand new spring alongside a 1000's of mile old one!
You also said you "found" it had been recently replaced which suggests you didn't know it had been changed (hence why you bought two) and so don't know how many miles it's done? In which case you should (to be sure) have changed both

I didn't mean to cause offence, was just trying to help others.

Indeed correct in that there is no need to change both springs. There is no settling, fatigue or change in characteristics of Z4 springs.
They just snap...

Sadly this is not true mate, all metal fatigues over time certainly when it is constantly flexing as a coil spring does!
The spring will gradually lose it's strength, become brittle (fatigued), crack and eventually snap.... If they didn't fatigue as you suggest then they would never break.
Soft springs are caused by repeated work loading and unloading, and by the gradual heat tempering that occurs from suspension cycling. The repeated expansion and compression of the metal molecules during usage creates heat; and it is this heat that slowly lowers the spring rate and resiliency of the material. The overall effect decreases its strength and ability to bear a load.

I should have been clearer. OP noted that one spring had 'been recently replaced' therefore there will be no problems with just changing one. Springs are not matched sets on the Z4 and can be changed individually unlike, pads, disks, and shock absorbers. Once they have gone over say 10,000 to 12,000 miles as good practice I'd change them.

Incidentally after 60,000 miles I changed mine and the ride height after 24 hours to bed the rubbers back in was within 2mm of where it had been.

Hi
Do you still have the rear spring for sale?
Is it suitable for a Z4 3.0si coupe 2007?

If so please call me on 01664 569478

Cheers
Guy
