i was wondering if anybody has ever re-mapped a 2.0 Z4. super chips recon to do one for a relatively cheap £240 for a modest 10 bhp gain!
my two main thoughts are .
1 would this invalidate my bmw warranty?
2 would i even notice a 10 bhp gain?

appart from get a engine with 6 pots

is there anything else that can be done to squeeze a bit more out of it?
cheers ,sean

I thought that your's already has 6 pots?

Apparently the change after remapping a petrol is normally in power delivery and smoothness rather than the actual quantity if power.

Doubt you would see any returns from a remap - depending on how scrupulous the tuner was they may just fiddle with the delivery to make the car feel faster at a certain point in the rev range. Have a look at the dyno link in my sig - what I did and some good contributions from others who know a lot more than I.

BMW would look too kindly on the upgrade either and it would have a profound impact on your insurance - every mod, "do it increase the horsepower?"Was even asked that about my strut brace - IMO a better way to spend £200!

thanks for the pointers its a realy good thread

The only after-market company I would trust is ESS and they don't even do an ECU re-map for the 2.0 engine.

Warranty for the engine would be invalidated.

For what reason are you looking to increase performance?

Really? God, zero increase in my insurance with all my mods as none increase the performance, just cosmetic, better handling or better sound.

Sorry, that is to say that they asked if the strut brace would increase bhp

Who are you with? I could do with someone a little more open minded.

no real reason my real question is for around £240 i can get 10 bhp increase i was just curious if that would be noticeable .

in my experiance its hardly ever worth chipping/ tuning NA cars unless you have done some hardware mods first... most NA cars are pretty well tuned from the factory.
