Z4 Purchase

Hi all,

I've been looking for a Z for a while and I've finally found a good one. Low miles, v.good price and from a main dealer so full years warranty.

My only concern is the colour combination. I like it but lots of people
I've asked are unsure.

I don't have any pics and the ones up on the site are pretty poor quality so difficult to tell exactly how it looks. The other issue is its 400 miles from me (typical) and BMW want £500 non refundable deposit to hold it for me so as you can imagine I'm not keen to pay unless I know it's the one.

It's Black with Dark Beige Hood and Light Sepang Bronze nappa leather. Anyone got this colour combo, mainly the black bodywork/dark beige hood. I'm concerned it will look different when I get there because of poor pics. I've emailed for clearer pics so waiting on that but everyone's opinion would be appreciated together with pics of anyone Z which has this black/dark beige colour combo would be appreciated!

Cheers

Nick

Not sure on the colour combo tbh.

The deposit sounds incredibly dodgy to me. Any reasonable dealer will take a deposit 'subject to liking it & test drive'.

I've done the same as you with a BMW AUC quite a way from me. The £500 deposit is refundable if I'm unhappy with the car when I go to see it so perhaps have a word on that. I'd have never paid it if that was the case personally.

Hi guys thanks for coming back. I don't have the link as I'm on my phone but if you look at the approved used section of Douglas Park BMW in Glasgow you'll see it there at a very reasonable price indeed!

Not sure about the different colored hood,,, but then that could be just me.. If there are any of the scotish chaps on here maybe one of them could pop down and take some better/high res pics for you...

Sure my local dealer has an m up for sale.. it stratstone at silverlink.

I like it , and I like the price as its a AUC looks a good deal. But not everyone will I suppose, would not put me off :)

I think your either like it or not with the pictures they have therefore if your unsure no point looking any further thats just IMO

Yeah i guess it's personal preference. I quite like it but was concerned whether it would be difficult to shift on given its marmite colouring! Dealer hasn't been exactly helpful as I asked to send some nicer pics but try haven't obliged but they are desperate to sell as he's dropped the price by over £1000 and is undercutting the vast majority of private sellers! A friend of mine who works in BMW in Cardiff seems to think BMW are really struggling to sell the M in the current climate, hence the price crash. The 3.0si coupe however seems comparitively more expensive given its cheaper running costs.

I looked into this and although it's a really lovely example he wants £18500 which is a little more than I was looking to spend. Thanks for letting me know though.

Still can't decide between an M and a 3.0si! Grrr. Loved both, prefer the torquey feeling low down of the 3.0si but then the M at high revs is a riot!

That seems a ridiculously cheap price!

I think the interior colour is great, and goes nicely with black, but I personally don't like the soft top colour. However if you do then I think that is a bargain.

Is it possible to change the colour of the soft top with dye? I wonder if this is something a professional car restorer and the likes could do, bet it wouldn't cost more than £500. Just an idea if it helps?

I quite like it, and as WantanM states, if you grow to dislike it, get it coloured.

And, as an ///M, you're now going to be waiting round for opinions

Ill save myself £500 and do it myself with a decent permanent marker :). Couldn't believe the price though, seems so cheap. Theres another one in London in grey/silver with black interior, same mileage, 6 months younger with better spec for £500 more! Seems the running costs are putting people off and BMW can't flog them! Making to think I'd be better getting a 3.0si coupe which will hold it's value more! Never thought id say that!
