Z4 optical ring

Does the z4 have run an optical fibre bus ring and if so from what year?

Don't believe so until the E89 in 2009 onwards.

Back as a graduate engineer at my first job, our office was helping developing the software for the MOST ring in some of the BMW's due out then (2002). Apparently the optics are only spec'd to last for 10 years. Maybe that's normal, but I remember thinking that replacing a broken copper cable in a 10 yr old car would be bad enough, but pulling a new optic cable through the car without breaking it would be a complete b*******d of a job.
