Z4.... One of the 10 worst designs !!!

Looks to me like the wanted to write a piece with the intent to filter out the worst design of 10 top designers and they could only come up with 10 names (bangle included).
I dont think Bangle ever made a really bad design tbh, so its all a bit forced journalism. More entertainment than informative, the trait of a bad reporter.
Good journalism never begins with 'we're gonna write such and such piece.....'
Good journalism begins with research.

That Philio is off the card list hahhah

Tbh looks wise side by side with no mods etc
Coupe is a prettier car, that is said of most softops in general I'd say myself

But I always having tt225s mazzer 420, alfa 159, and a load more in coupe guise, I found my only way to enjoy them was to rag them to hear and have the thrills

I then bought my mazzer spyder some 14 years ago and still love it.
The softop offers panoramic views, wind in hair, noise of engine/intake and exhaust more so than a coupe
But an option to become a coupe in 7 seconds
To me it's 2 cars in one and you can do 10 mph roof down and love it
Hence have 2 softops
But each enjoy what have
Ref hood up/down
It's a tricky one, I feel with my hood being redond windows tinted, it looks cooler up than Down?
See pic

Bottom photo (profile) - beautiful
top photo (from behind) - porky pig.
gotta say, like the E89, there are definitely some unflattering views depending on where you stand....

Haha porky pig as in low n fat?

As if so I love that part
As it's low and wide ;)
J Lo would be proud haha

Can't take that review seriously.
Sure, most of us here are biased, but way before the Z4 was even on my radar as a car I could own I liked its shape. When I first saw it I found it striking, what struck me was the side view with its combination of straight crease lines and swooping curves and that long hood - it was certainly a bold design, which took a little getting used to.
With car design its success to a large part is down to how quickly it dates and for me the Z4 is standing the test of time - it manages to look both contemporary and classical, I get a buzz from having one of the last E85s off the production line and love the attention it gets.
In a way its a throwback to the classical 2 seater sports car and yet at the same time it manages to stands up against the modern offerings in looks and performance
:driving: :)

Call me a cynic, but perhaps someone wrote it to antagonise and provoke discussions on forums that could go on for 3 or 4 pages.

Think I'll start another one and call it 'list of celeb mingers', starting with Kylie & her sister, (oh, no hang on, that was a dream I had).

Here's the man himself talking about the Z4 design philosophy. Well I'm convinced 😀

Hahah but we love it;)

No Fiat Multipla, no Allegro etc

Ha - it was just that one photo from the back that didn't look very flattering, almost like it had been resized (squashed) a bit.
The others you posted look good.
But now that you mention it, the Z4 does have a bit of a 'J Lo' thing going on at the back

Hahaha big ole hips;)

Photobucket is having problems

Hammond said our car was better looking than the Cayman and opted for it as well. Nothing else like it on the road

"Detroit 2009: BMW Z4 wins Eyes on Design Awards… and as expected, the new 2009 BMW Z4 has won the Production Vehicles award along with the new Audi R8 V10. Audi scored a major win by taking the award for Concept Vehicles with its new Sportback model."

The E89 Z4 obviously had its admirers back in 2009 :)

As some of you know I have a Datsun 260 z,plenty of write ups by ignorant plebs ,I won't call them journalists as a proper journalists does research and doesn't copy previous stuff that's been written down many times before,to me the hairdressers version of the Z 4 is one of the best looking convertibles ever built ,the Nissan 350/370 convertible is up there but has to have the roof down to look anywhere near as good,The coupe, which is wot I've got looks so good and looks really cool from behind,it's just an opinion from plebs that ain't in the know, but we are the lucky ones as we own and enjoy these great looking cars

Reminded me of the Marcos with that too-high boot line and that too tall spoiler sticking up and out of proportion to the boot.

I like the back end for the same reason you don't, I also prefer the rear light design on the early ones, there's more going on.

For me, the front of the E85 isn't aggressive enough for a relatively powerful car, even the M cars don't look strong enough imo. Fitting a back grill helps a bit, it's just too rounded as a whole to look mean. That said, what attracted me to the E85 (other than being a roadsters I can actually fit in) is that I see the car as a bit of a left field choice with a quirky design, that is thankfully very different from most other things on the road. I like the fact mine is an old one (03) as a whole I think it's stood the test of time and almost looks cool with the roof down. MX5 and Boxters don't look cool, ever (imo).

I prefer the earlier rear lights as well, the detailing is much classier. The front lights however, are wrong. The top line goes down and make the car look sad. The e89 is much better with a more aggressive look.

Love the view of the rear haunches over the back wheels, look great from rear view mirrors!

Car mag... What a load of old s**t. When performance car wound up in the late 90s my subscription was automatically changed to car magazine. It was utter rubbish. Cancelled it. Then found evo 😀. What the hell do they know and who cares what they think. Chris Bangle was laughed at for the E60 as well from what I remember. Looks great still today and was and is a fantastic car. Same goes for the Z. Idiots.

I've never liked the sides of the E85, love the front and the back. Really liked the E89, all of it. IMHO they didn't keep enough of the Z3 styling in any of them. Not the suspension, just the style :D
It's a bit funny but I once refused to consider the E85 and all the Porsches as being unpleasant to my eyes. Now I have both......

Some serious bollocks in that article. Where is the Ssangyong Rodius? Fiat Multipla, Ford Scorpio, PT Cruiser, Nissan Juke, Micra CC, Ford Focus CC, Honda Insight, MK I Toyota Corolla Verso, 2CV, Yugo 55, Alfa SZ, Renault Vel Satis...!!

There are some cars that activate the automatic puke button...
