Z4 on the track

Any one with experience of the Z4 on track? I'm going on a trip around Europe and we'll be popping by the Nurburgring so I'm tempted to do a couple of laps with the zed.

I've been before in my previous 350z which coped very well!

I'm not looking to set any new records but do enjoy pushing the car fairly hard. I wondered if anyone could comment on the stock brakes holding up? Car is a 20i Msport.

Might give the carousel a miss this time round!

Cheers

I've done around twenty track days in my Zed, next one at Oulton Park this Wednesday. I haven't done the ring but I can't see you having any problem with the standard set-up for a couple of laps. I've upgraded my brakes but it was more due to pad wear than fade. I used a set of front pads in a day at Snetterton and had to change them to a worn set to get home.
The main thing in the Zed is once you have knocked the speed right down to gently trail the brakes to the apex to keep the front end planted and reduce understeer. I fancy going to the ring just for the experience and just to say I've been, rather than like you say trying for track records. At any new track I keep the speed down until I know the track so at the ring that isn't going to happen.
Have fun is the main thing.

I have been to the ring in mine and a track day at Silverstone, Car was excellent at both tracks, It's the first time I have been glad that I had my run flats fitted as they didn't go of at all and no probs with brakes either although mines is a 2.5 ltr so high speeds not as high as a 3.5 ltr down the longer straights,

While we are on the subject of track days. We could do with getting more names down for Cadwell Park later this month.

Excellent stuff and thanks for the tip. The ring is a great experience I was thinking of going roof down just to listen to the howl coming off the other cars especially down the foxhole!

Just out of interest, when you guys are on track do you drive with sport mode on or off? I feel like I can place the car better in the comfort mode. For me it's almost as if sport mode steering feels over assisted. Or is it just me?

I drive in Sport+ with the gear leaver left and use the paddles in manual to shift. It's definitely the fastest way once mastered. I have a Quaife dif fitted too so the traction lights very rarely flicker and the engine doesn't cut but the diff stops the car being snappy anyway.

I use sport mode and traction control of don't like feeling when I can't put the power down when I want to waiting for traction control to let me have control back Its very anoying,
