Z4 on four axle stands

Hi,
I plan to get my 108 wheels refurbished but I am not keen on leaving the car at the refurb place. What worries me the most is how they might take all four wheels off to put on axle stands

I would rather take the wheels off and drop them off.

My problem is, I am unsure how to go about placing the zed on four axle stands.

I have seen online that some use wood to jack the car up between the jack points and then place on axle stands after the whole side has been raised

Anyone with experience using this method and is it safe as I dont want to m damage my lovely car?

Thanks

Drive the car up on to 4 wedged blocks of wood or buy some plastic ramps. I have two pairs of these. This will give you a few more inches in height to play with.ramps.jpg
Jack the car at the rear using the central jacking point where the two diagonal tie bars meet, immediately behind the diff (circled in red). Put a block of wood/hard rubber between the jack and jacking point.rear central jacking point.jpg Place an axle stand under each rear sill jacking point. I put a block of wood on top of the axle stand to spread load and avoid damaging plastic jacking point just visible above. Specific hard rubber blocks that fit the top of various axle stands and BMW jacking points are available.
I now have two air-bag style jacks I can join together and raise both sides simultaneously but previously used to place a trolley jack under each front lower suspension control arm with a block of wood on each spreading the load and preventing damage. You need two trolley jacks and raise each a couple of inches at a time in turn until the desired height is reached. Place a block of wood and axle stand under each front sill jacking point. I have safely raised my Z4 this way more times than I can remember and had it up on axle stands for weeks at a time whilst doing jobs over extended periods. Safe as houses !20210403_184837.jpg

You can jack one side at a time with the rear sill jacking point and get the car high enough to get an axle stand under the front jacking point on the same side but when you do the same on t'other side it can get a bit precarious with the car swinging diagonally across until you lower it carefully onto the axle stand under the other side front jacking point. Not safe enough for me  The rear can then be jacked up from the central jacking point quite safely. However, you will need the rear wheels up on wood etc before you start the previous process so as to get a little more height at the rear or you will struggle to get even a low profile jack in under the rear valance to the central jacking point
